Why "that picture" was killed.

Photo agencies can only accept pictures that represent "a moment in time." The picture can be tidied up, but can only be a single image. "That picture" was a composite, or a montage, so didn't represent a single moment in time. This rule applies even to merging images from the same shoot.

Obviously if the picture had been simply posted by them on their Instagram feed, it would have been fine. But it wasn't. It went to the agencies with the intention of syndicating it world wide, so not fine. HTH.

Forgot to add that they ten lied that it was taken last week to deceive the public into believing they're seeing a recent photo.

That bit is not established, actually. The images used to create the composite image that was released could have been taken last week as claimed, or not. We don’t know either way.

They lied. The photo was not taken last week.
It's deceitful and as usual trying to create a false perception in the public.
They would've presented the photo if not.

Yes, when a photo suggests a narrative, the credibility of the agencies is on the line if they post it.

The BBC posted the photo and its accompanying narrative without looking very closely at it, and frankly it doesn't reflect well on them.

Yep the BBC gets very excited about Royal stuff such that its whole impartiality thing goes out of the window.

Wondering whether she’s had cosmetic surgery on her face. Pressures of public gaze etc.

Too right and although Nicholas Witchell has announced his retirement, he hasn't left yet, and he typifies the BBC and their ridiculousness over the RF! Obsequious

I'm sure we all remember when Philip died, they suspended ALL channels and radio stations for a day and transmitted the same thing everywhere
Luckily they'd learnt by the time the Queen died because they were deluged with complaints

I'm sick of people acting like it's a terrible thing they've done
Do people really want to live in a country where manipulated and untrue sources can be published with impunity? Where is the line drawn?

@fratellia "What about the photographs that were sometimes released of the Queen with all of the great-children?"
Either they were personal pictures and therefore it's OK to photoshop them OR the photographer took nine million pictures and one of them managed to get everyone looking in the right direction.

Wouldn't the Kate photo also be a personal picture as William was reported to have taken the snap? 🤔Therefore "OK to photoshop"? I thought it originated from their MD Twitter post?

If anyone tried to deceive their employer in this way they'll be sacked!

The fact that public had been speculating about her lack of public appearance and felt entitled to her whereabouts, good on them for telling the lie about their personal matter. That's how you should deal with those who can't respect your privacy at the time of medical situation when you had requested for it and informed people when you will be available.

No - it was released as an official photo & sent through to the photo agency. Baffling to me that people still think Kates spent ages editing the photo and then released it to all the photo agencies herself!

if they just had it on their Instagram that would have been fine.
