I don’t suppose this will be of much interest but Princess Anne was not at Murrayfield today to see her beloved Scotland lift the Calcutta Cup for the 4th time in a row.

Tim (nice but dim), sorry I couldn’t resist) was there which actually highlighted her absence to me.

That woman is a bigger Scottish rugby fan than me and that is saying something. I truly hope nothing is amiss. Maybe Zara and Mike needed a sitter at short notice.

I noticed her absence too..... not like her to miss a match.

Fantastic win for Scotland !!!!

ChocoChocoLatte · 24/02/2024 20:32

I did wonder myself but seeing as I spent most of the match watching by peering from behind my fingers, I thought I must have just missed her......

Allshallbewell2021 · 24/02/2024 20:34

She's probably busy covering kingly duties for her poorly bro.

TheTripThatWasnt · 24/02/2024 20:36

I thought her absence was notable too.

2Old2Tango · 24/02/2024 20:36

She's taken on a lot more duties to cover for King Charles so potentially just a busy diary that prevented her attending.

DrowingInStationery · 24/02/2024 20:36

She’s gone to Namibia to represent the King at a funeral

Belindabelle · 24/02/2024 20:37

@DrowingInStationery thank you, that explains it then.

Am I missing something- why would his presence be linked to hers?

I think she has gone in Charles place to Namibia for the Presidents state funeral

GrouchyKiwi · 25/02/2024 14:42

It's good to know why she wasn't there. I was also surprised not to see her, but it's good that her husband can fill in when she's unavailable.

I too was watching much of the match from behind my hands. Grin

Serenster · 25/02/2024 15:57

As other posters have said, she travelled to Namibia at short notice to attend the funeral of former President Hage Geingob
(I too wondered why she wasn’t at Murrayfield yesterday…and googled).

This. I've r and she's taken on raven more royal duties to take the pressure off King Charles whilst he recovers from his cancer treatment.

JSMill · 25/02/2024 16:40

I'm gutted I couldn't watch it. (Dd had a competition). It's one of the few sporting fixtures I get excited about. I bet Anne was gutted too!

Foxhead · 25/02/2024 16:41

Kitkat1523 · 25/02/2024 16:25

Legally but not in practice?

CarolinaInTheMorning · 25/02/2024 16:46

Legally but not in practice?

Of course they are married "in practice." He is often with her on public and private occasions and appears to be very supportive of her and the RF. They do have separate lives to a certain extent, but so do many couples. It works for them, and that is the important thing.

Muchcolderthanoflate · 25/02/2024 16:49

She's brilliant the Princess Royal, bet that was the last thing you fancy doing flying out to Namibia for a funeral of someone you had presumably never even met.

I thought that it was common knowledge that they didn't live together and she has been/is in new relationship/s?

Roselilly36 · 25/02/2024 16:55

My favourite Royal, rarely gets press coverage, isn’t Princess Royal the hardest working royal family member? I think I read that once. I like her humour and no nonsense approach.

Absolute nonsense, Foxhead.
