Anne’s second marriage took place in the Church of Scotland, which had different rules to the Church of England.
True, but my point about the late Queen attending the service was that she did not have a personal objection to a divorced child marrying while the ex-spouse was still living.
There was some talk at the time leading up to Charles and Camilla's marriage that they could might get married in the Church of Scotland, but that was problematical because of Charles's future position as head of the CofE. It does seem that much of that theological hair-splitting is moot now as even the CofE, as I understand it, has divorced and remarried priests or at least priests who have married divorcees.
When I married a divorced man in the US Episcopal Church (part of the Anglican Communion with the CofE), the only thing the priest wanted to know about the divorce was whether DH was honoring his child support obligations, a very reasonable condition, I think.
