… from Mountbatten-Windsor to ‘Sussex’.
Apparently it’s to strengthen their brand.

Could you let us know which bit you are referring to? That link is 12 1/2 minutes long

Apologies - did clip it however have a look from minute 1000.

I've looked, I still can't work out the point you are making?

I think we also need to people living with disabilities when they say it is uncomfortable watching an able-bodied person using a piece of equipment (as a toy) that is designed for people with disabilities to participate in an activity.

Able bodied people do play wheelchair quite regularly though. You don’t have to be disabled to play (it’s that rare thing, a genuinely inclusive sport), so it’s not unusual at all.

Or do you have another reason for asking…?

I think Samcro was asking because of the above.

I assume leagues/associations that have people of any ability playing in a wheelchair have done so with full consultation and agreement with their disabled members?

It isn't for any able-bodied person to dictate to people with disabilities what is/is not acceptable.

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 16/02/2024 18:07

I can see the value of making wheelchair sports a place for everyone to compete on a level playing field, and for wheelchair sports to be a place where those with a disability to have their own space.

As I said, not my call

skullbabe · 16/02/2024 18:08

Don't worry - the point was there is a narrative that some people laugh at others on a regular basis. The basis for one claim is a picture taken from that video in which one subject is apparently expressing alarm and another is laughing supposedly at a horseman falling. The video clearly shows the subject (who looks abosolutely stunning) who is expressing alarm is actually coughing and the supposedly laughing subject is talking to her husband behaind her hand. It is also interesting in context of someone supposedly falling that no-one else on that balcony appears to be upset, concerned or at all any thing other than relaxed.

Assume away! I can’t imagine why you think posters on this thread will know that?

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 16/02/2024 18:11

Well, so many posters are so very confident, I assume they have behind the scenes knowledge!

skullbabe · 16/02/2024 18:14

From this thread I now see that no able bodied person should use adaptive equipment or participate in adaptive sports. Good to know.

Honestly, I’ll just save everybody time.

This photo was taken on the Buckingham Palace at Trooping the Colour in 2018. The three adults in the photo may have been reacting to something they could see. Or it may have been one of those photos which looks like they are reacting to the same thing, but they are not. At some stage during that appearance, a man fell off his horse. I don’t think it’s ever been established if the two are related. They may be, they may not.

Is that it?

Unless it’s Wheelchair Rugby League. That is completely fine.😀

skullbabe · 16/02/2024 18:27

I'm confused because several posters ae saying that it's an absolute no no. Perhaps it's only when Harry does it.

Serenster · 16/02/2024 18:32

I can’t help you sorry, as I’m able-bodied, and as you said, it isn't for any able-bodied person to dictate to people with disabilities what is/is not acceptable. Maybe contact the governing body for each and every disabled sport to check their position on the matter?

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 16/02/2024 18:34

As I said, not my call.

If there is a Wheelchair rugby league that is open to all, it is no big deal if someone able-bodied takes part - or someone with disabilities takes part. That's the point.

If it is a space for people with disabilities to compete against others with similar disabilities, those involved are - in my opinion - allowed to object to someone able bodied using it as 'a bit of fun'.

skullbabe · 16/02/2024 18:34

Oh I didn't say that - another poster said that. Maybe they can help tell us what is right.

Can people drop the “wanted to be her Tampax” thing because it’s not what he said at all?!

He’s done and said enough stuff over the years to give people ammunition without deliberate mis-quoting of that particular conversation

“Charles replies: “Or, God forbid, a Tampax. Just my luck! My luck to be chucked down a lavatory and go on and on forever swirling round on the top, never going down.”” Zero wish to be tampax expressed…

Quite newbeginnings

Perhaps now that the actual thing said has been written down in black and white again, some might actually stop trying to peddle their pish continually.

H was hacked - poor H. Isn’t it wicked/unfair/yadda yadda.

KC hacked on a private conversation? Apparently fair game to keep repeating it and worse, getting it wrong.

The double standards clowns are alive and well on here.

Of topic but what do you think of able bodied people playing wheelchair rugby?

Oh, I see, this was supposed to be a trap 😂

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 16/02/2024 19:02

Sorry, I was a bit slow on the uptake!

Just curious. It means an able bodied person is using a wheelchair.
im not a fan personally, but then having an adult child that has and will use a wheelchair for life probably colours my judgement.
but if it’s ok for able bodied people to do that, what is wrong with harry trying this out?

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 16/02/2024 19:10

As I have said, I can see both sides - a level playing field (literally) for wheelchair users and others who do not need to use a wheelchair. Alternatively, wheelchair sports are an opportunity for those who don't have a choice about using a wheelchair to have a sporting league that is focussed on their needs.

So, I think value in both? Surely? As long as those living with disabilities have a genuine choice - both are available. Which is not always the case.

And I think spaces that ARE for those living with disabilities shouldn't be a fun photo op for those who do not have disabilities.

PrincessWildernessOfWherever · 16/02/2024 19:12

But, when it comes down to it, I am repeating what friends living with various disabilities say to me on the subject - they are the experts I listen to

The double standards clowns are alive and well on here.

As already seen on the thread, and multiple other threads, it won’t.

Its too juicy a statement “Charles wanted to be a tampon” to let go just because it’s completely and utterly inaccurate.

Some folks are happy to repeat bollocks if it sounds good to them

skullbabe · 16/02/2024 19:14

Agreed. Glad you have clarified the standard.
