He has given up his case against the DM, just as thread 1 gave up! Continuation for anyone who would like to discuss

Harry might need security if he visited Catherine. If I was her, I'd be throwing a used bedpan at him if he came anywhere near me.

Grin

Well at least he can put his £42k win from the Mirror towards his massive 750k costs that he needs to now cough up.

Oh dear Harold. He bit off more than he could chew.

From what I have read he may end up owing the Mirror even though he won - if he turned down a previous offer to settle that was less than the court awarded costs. But that remains to be seen...

Maybe this is why he was miserable out jogging yesterday .

CathyorClaire · 19/01/2024 21:19

I read a ridiculous comment on Twitter this afternoon saying that Harry is so brave as he is willing to risk his security to come over to the U.K. to visit his father and Catherine

Surely he's too busy collecting paid for manufactured gongs?

Awards ceremony is tonight, so allowing for the time difference, any time now

Ooooh, I wonder what he'll wear!

You just reminded me of Biggles, and his co-pilot Ginger!

Ooooh, I remember Biggles, my Mum had her childhood books about him that we read! And Ginger, and Algy!

I read somewhere today that the cost of the award is $30,000.

BrittleVeneers · 20/01/2024 05:09

Nope. A VIP table at the awards will cost $30,000.

I do remember where I read that - the Guardian.

WinnieTheW0rm · 20/01/2024 07:41

The thread on the aviation awards:

Prince Harry to receive a Living Legend of Aviation award | Mumsnet

It doesn't look as if we'll be hearing more about the RAVEC JR for several months

ThePoshUns · 20/01/2024 08:41

Article in The Times covering Harry dropping the case . Interesting that his claim the Queen ' cut him off' are rebutted. She was very concerned for his and Meghans continued safety and wrote herself supporting that. The lies are catching up with him. Hopefully he had fun at his little award night last night 😬

Prince Harry abandons libel case against The Mail on Sunday

Had to smile at Harry's claim that the article cast doubt on his “an attack on his honesty and integrity”, when his own actions suggest that neither are a priority

As ever this is the trouble with lying; try to tell the truth occasionally and there's a tendency to find you've lost your audience

Maireas · 20/01/2024 11:11

attack on his honesty and integrity
😂

wildernesssw · 20/01/2024 12:01

It's comedy gold 😂

Thank you for the share token to The Times article.

It includes Harry's formal statement

'A spokeswoman for the Duke of Sussex said: “Years have lapsed since this complaint was first filed.

'“In the time since, the main hearing relating to the Duke’s judicial review has taken place and we are awaiting the final decision as to whether Ravec [the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures] acted lawfully with regard to his security.

'“His focus remains there, and on the safety of his family, rather than these legal proceedings that give a continued platform to the Mail’s false claims all those years ago. Costs in the case are to be determined and it’s premature to speculate on.”'

IcedPurple · 20/01/2024 12:37

That's a very petulant and childish 'statement', especially the bit about costs. He clearly hates the idea that the world knows he's going to have to shell out big time to his arch enemy. Come to think of it, maybe 'Archenemies' would be a good idea for a new podcast?

And the bit about 'the safety of his family' makes no sense at all. He would have been better saying nothing.

ThePoshUns · 20/01/2024 12:42

Yes he refers to the Mail's 'false claims' yet he has failed to prove they are false.
That and his nasty dig at John Travolta on accepting his flying medal just demonstrate how self obsessed and narcissistic he is.
I actually feel sorry for Meghan being married to him it must be exhausting.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/01/2024 12:43

"His focus remains (on the Ravec review), and on the safety of his family, rather than these legal proceedings that give a continued platform to the Mail’s false claims all those years ago

So if he didn't like the "continued platform" the Mail was getting, what was stop stop him withdrawing the case long ago (which would also have saved on legal costs)?

As IcedPurple just said, childish and petulant, but nothing new in that

I don't feel sorry for Meghan as I think she's just as bad. But I agree with the rest.

Hopefully he's learning now that in the real world actions have consequences and if you lose, you pay the price. Yes, even if you are Prince Harry, Duke of Better Up. But given how obtuse he is, I wouldn't take it to the bank.

SilkFloss · 20/01/2024 13:22

Re: the Queen cutting him off, I thought (in the Oprah interview) that he said his father had cut him off? (Even though the now-King's accounts released subsequently showed that he had paid Harry significant sums)

Thunderbird7 · 20/01/2024 21:10

“All those years ago”

2022?!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 20/01/2024 21:21

As opposed to his phone hacking cases that really were all those years ago (heinous though they were). He has a selective memory.
