Is anyone else watching this and would like to talk about it?

What sort of thing is it? I will be honest, I usually can't stomach these things Grin

I think it's Channel5 that do wall to wall royal programmes and I totally avoid !

It's a series looking at the history of the Royal family. It's not just a puff piece, but only has facts not rumours. So lots of people talking who have worked for or with them.

I've watched some. I am a little bit in love with Lady Anne Glenconner so have been watching mostly for her contributions.

I found it heartbreaking the anecdote about Edward as a young child being excited because the Queen had promised him 15 minutes later in the day.
I know it's not really a surprise as Charles was publicly so critical of her mothering. But all I could picture was that excited boy happy to get a tiny bit of attention from his mum.

I do wonder if now that the Queen has passed more of these type anecdotes will come out, more publicly, not just spoilt Charles complaining but showing that her priority was her job and he Children got what was left over. And what a job. I could imagine Andrew using it as an excuse. I could imagine Princess Anne stating as fact that her mother put responsibility before pleasure as she should.

Perhaps. I don't think Charles was overall a spoilt child. He seems to have had a strange mixture of very little attention from his parents and his gran the Queen mother spoiling him, with mountbatten acting as a surrogate father.
I have seen it said many times that the Queen spent more time with Andrew. If true that didn't work out well either.

Charles had an adoring grandmother and a very present aunt for the first decade of his life. Margaret was the only one interested in Anne’s education and would come and check her maths work. I guess love is what matters and they were loved. Charles did have a complex relationship with both parents though. He really wasn’t either one of their sorts if you know what I mean.
