Recently spotted at a TSwift (allegedly), Barbie movie for her birthday, a restaurant, and then hanging out with friends in an Instagram selfie. She looks phenomenal in this photo!

Glad to see she's enjoying her life back home with her family.

Why just link daft pics and catty comments?
Pointless.
And pathetic

Is this what we're reduced to?

Mylovelygreendress · 25/09/2023 08:28

I cannot believe posters saying that Kate copied Meghan’s clothes !! What utter nonsense! It’s true that Kate’s style has changed slightly but that is to do with her becoming more comfortable in her new role plus the late Queen was known to be a stickler for what to wear etc and the rules have been relaxed . The idea that Kate would look to her SIL for style ideas is hilarious.

@AuroraCake
It's very strong words to 'hate' and 'despise' her clothes. I just cannot imagine feeling that strongly about the clothes someone wears.

@MrsMaxDeWinter puts it much better than me. Are you sure Aurora it's not just the clothes but the person wearing them?

For instance, Kate veers from looking good to looking fabulous with the odd horror as far as I'm concerned (frills, bows and that blue outfit she posed with Sophie with... horrendous). But on the whole, with her figure she can wear anything and look elegant.
I prefer Meghan's style because she can be more daring in what she wears as she's not bound by protocol but really don't like the shorts and playsuit type thing.

Fine to be more accurate. I don’t like Meghan’s style. I like many things she wore when she was was a working royal and I have no idea what she wore before that. At the moment I don’t like it. The dresses actually appear okay and her casual style is probably pretty much like everyone else’s so that’s fine too.

We good?

I am getting so tired of the whole Meghan thing. Like does anyone actually have a healthy opinion of her? Some people do try. She is worth neither revering or tearing down. And all the viciousness about others then too.

I happen, personally, to dislike a American style (obviously not all that would be hyperbole but that certain uber casual bland look that is adopted by some) and consider it boring. But then I favour a more boho chic look. Us being petty over a sad family story that should be left where it is.

boxedandribboned · 25/09/2023 08:47

From the odd press stories I've seen over recent years, Meghan does often look untidy, her clothes often seem to be inappropriate for the weather, or somehow wrong for the occasion, she frequently behaves strangely (trying to grab passing microphones!), or poses unnaturally as though uber-aware of the cameras, it creates an awkward impression overall.

It's not really that surprising that she wasn't a great fit for the royal family, where such a narrow and prescriptive set of behavioral and sartorial expectations prevails.

If she's now operating as a free agent/ minor celeb, perhaps it doesn't really matter. But as long as she's introducing herself as a royal duchess, I'm afraid the dissonance will continue.

StartupRepair · 25/09/2023 08:51

It is being widely reported that when Meghan visited a school in Harlem to read The Bench to the poor children every member of the school community was asked to sign a declaration that they would not ever say anything negative on social media about her or the visit. This is not the way to operate in the world. You can't compell people to like you.

I’m sure you are aware that it’s as perfectly possible to dislike Meghan’s “Relaxed California chic” wardrobe of polished neutral knits and luxe layering, dress shorts, ripped jeans and white shirts paired with lots of dinky jewellery and oversized totes AND the Queen’s wardrobe of brightly coloured coat dresses in bright sherbet tones, complete with unchanging black pumps and handbag and a matching trimmed hat? I’m not fond of either, to be honest, they both strip the wearer of much of their personality. Or Kate’s recent uniform of plain trousers and blazers paired with white t-shirts and plain pumps (for those who say she’s copying Meghan, Kate wore this silhouette long before Meghan too, but fashions change and trouser suits are definitely having a moment right now).

it’s much more fun following the fashion of a Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, who has an exuberant personality and appears to wear what she likes, and isn’t dressing so an instagram grid of her outfits will look cohesive. But doing that comes with the risk that she sometimes looks a hot mess. She always, always, looks like she has a personality, though. 😀

I think control is a huge issue over what went wrong. Maybe the biggest issue. Sad because all it speaks to is rock bottom, shaky self esteem. That all you can handle is the perfectly created influencer, self promoted issue that is never questioned. It is absolutely toxic to a life in the public eye. As a celebrity, and we do never really question anything but the image celebrities out out, it’s fine. As a public figure ripe to be continually torn down and questioned. Awful.

Before this gets too heated, can I just point out that Meghan has CHOSEN, many many times both pre and post royal life, to wear her hair sleekly coifed.

It's all getting a bit rubbish really, women tearing women down

LadyMuckingabout · 25/09/2023 09:20

I think Meghan’s hair always looks great. She has a range of styles and she has a great bone structure so she wears the styles as opposed to the styles wearing her.

Kate’s hair is also awesome - and Camilla’s “gronde” hair looks good on an older woman.

So - hair all good!

You have to feel sorry for men. You have to embrace baldness or, like Harry, try hair transplants or plugs. Dyed hair on men is just atrocious: boot polish or dreadful henna. Lucky are those who can go for the silver fox look and keep a full head of hair (not many ime).

I haven’t read the full thread.

I saw some of the usual vitriol re Meghan

It fascinates me

My explanation is that many hardline royalists ( downplay Andrew, ignore Mountbatten , focus on surface such as clothes) are in a bizzare parasocial relationship with the ‘royals’
So when H and M left , they felt personally rejected .

Of course @MrsMaxDeWinter , Meghan is the target of racists too . The fact that she saw the ‘royals’ and left enrages them further

MrsMaxDeWinter · 25/09/2023 09:39

@Mylovelygreendress

Get thee to Celebitchy, they have a running commentary on all the instances Kate copied Meghan, as do other sites.

It is actually now a source of amusement, and the comments tend to be very funny. Be warned, unlike Mumsnet, which blanches collectively when slavery or racism are mentioned, it is run by women of colour, and the references are very culture specific.

My personal favourite recent moment is when Kate wore the iconic and unmistakable Aquazzura heels made famous by Meghan ... then the best friend that the tabloid media has donated to her, Rose Hanbury, wore them too a few days later.

Wills Windsor, the comedian who parodies William on Twitter had great fun with that!😁

As for the accusations of dowdiness and frumpiness, take it up with the tabloids, whom you seem to believe when it comes to all things Meghan!

Duchess of Drab! How DOES a beautiful woman look so frumpy?

The Duchess of Cambridge has got beauty, glamour and classiness; so why, then, is Kate such an incorrigible frump, wonders SARAH VINE.

And? The fact that people feel they own the royals and they by extension are all of our families shouldn’t be new. It’s an old tale. It has more than once caused us to treat them horrendously and also resulted in blind eyes.

Howefer sometimes a discussion on clothes is a discussion on clothes. It’s everywhere on all forums about all famous women. You can call it sexiest,
perhaps it is, but in many fashion is itself an art form and ripe for commentary.

Daisyislazy · 25/09/2023 09:40
