The Royal Mile was absolutely packed by the time of the procession.

vera99 - those pics were obviously taken at 5am this morning or on Sunday morning. The crowds were huge, the protester numbers tiny. Sorry

The crowds were 10-15 folk deep all along the Royal Mile. Those protesters are of the same ilk as the Just Stop Oil protesters - small in number, but highly fecking annoying, camera hungry and difficult to clean up afterwards.

As a proud Scot it was uplifting seeing Scotland, Edinburgh and Scottish history and culture so well represented to the world.

RF wife always looks miserable but it did remind me of this ...

@askmeonemoretime so true, even the comments seem manipulated to be positive. I think I read the DM more because of the media analysis than anything.

There’s definitely been a shift in the coverage being less favourable. I think the media view them as a commodity and if they’re not generating stories, the media will do that for them.

The press seem bored with them. The Federer & Kate & Mirka story was clearly a bit of fun & nonsense & stirring up.

I don't really agree that Kate has had a recent uptick in negative articles. The DM has a real knack of writing 'gushing' articles with an undertone of negativity. They are always trying to pick at Kate for something or other. Must be really tedious.

Fortunately most people on this thread have treated it as a bit of fun (because I think that everyone loves Roger), but when does that stop being fun and start being nasty, mean or even misogyny?

Can you link to negative articles in the past? Because everything I read in the past painted her as saint like.

TBF Australian TV is pretty dire so probably the only way OP has of passing the time.

Oh it was relentless! Went on for years (people tend to forget the earlier parts , but did get something of a reminder during recent phone hacking trial, when we were reminded that Kate had had her phone hacked at least 150 times, and topless pics taken from over 750m away were published)

Quick google reminded me of some:

Waity Katey, Doors to manual, Doo-little, being cheated on, "at war with the Queen", "the shady side of Kate" un-made up pap pic captioned "feeling the Xmas strain are you Kate?" pic with teeth photoshopped to gappy, puts no effort into anything, "at the brink on Valentines day", terrible weight loss, HG just a fake to get out of working - there were loads more, but I don't really see the point in dragging over further examples of what the bottom feeder write.

I didn't realise you were talking about saying the past. The wait Katy was all before they married. But then she turned into saint kate and all the press was very positive for years. So the recent change is startling.

The DM will often publish stuff that they know to be true, massively hinting without actually saying anything. Ie with super injunctions of a footballer cheating on his wife, they’ll publish this saccharine sweet article about the footballer looking “loved up” with his wife with pics of them looking miserable. They did it with that Hugh guy from Paddington after he’d had an injunction for using prostitutes (I think?)

Lots can be gleaned from what they’re not saying!

A lot of it was classist. There was bound to be some focus on her low level of engagements. Although that disappeared in the intervening years with articles about her doing the school run and being a hands on mother.

@CorBlimeyGovnr I have noticed the press do that. But I find this hard to believe. Although I have been wrong before.
