The sudden unusual turn on Princess Kate

Today, I wanted to share something thought-provoking that has caught my attention recently - a noticeable change in the way the media portrays Kate Middleton.

Some publications that previously showed favor towards Kate (DM cough, cough) have started publishing stories that present her in a more critical light. It's an interesting shift.

Firstly, there's a story circulating about an encounter between Kate and a convicted murderer at a charity event. Additionally, there's talk of the taxpayer potentially providing support for her family's struggling business. This raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their business venture and the implications it may have for public funds.

What's intriguing is the parallel being drawn between Kate's current media treatment and the scrutiny faced by Meghan Markle in the past. It's worth discussing whether there's a connection or simply a coincidence.

Furthermore, there's some buzz on Twitter suggesting that Kate may have unintentionally upstaged the King during the Chelsea Flower Show. While it may seem like harmless gossip, it's interesting to consider the impact of such events on the monarchy's reputation. Some even speculate that Camilla might have been involved in the leak of these stories, adding an extra layer to the intrigue.

Taking a step back, it's worth pondering whether the monarchy should be concerned about being upstaged in this day and age. Are we witnessing a shift in priorities and expectations?

Yes, every single horse in the country is personally owned by the Monarch. He rents them out. Although interestingly, donkeys are all owned by the Duke of Gloucester.
Post Offices have to go to Buckingham Palace at 5:00am to get the day's quota of stamps.
Don't get me started on ballpoint pens.

QE used to have horses in Kentucky and would visit them. Y’all should check there. I have some connections if you want? In fact, pretty sure a former governor kept some of them on his farm and she would visit.

I also agree with @vera99 "And in this day and age bow or curtsy to another person based on their birth/marriage and call them your Highness and pretend they are moral betters when they are nothing of the sort."
👏🏻

Mind you I do like looking at the pomp, pageantry, ceremonies and fashion. Smile

I also loved watching the ceremonies - all the dress ups, gold carriages etc..

Until Charles’ coronation. That finished it for me. It all look slightly ridiculous. Charles arriving early and having a little hissy fit about it, hIs nightgown/Bedshirt as the simple unadorned man, the wobbling crowns. It all looks a bit ridiculous and really tired.

This was me too. Sat down thinking I'd enjoy it but it was too much and too ridiculous.

Turns out Royal Wedding is the correct level of pomp and ceremony for me.

Which royals moved how many stamps into their private collections, when? I believe King George V had a stamp collection.

George V was known to be an enthusiastic stamp collector, and his collection is now very valuable. Is there any evidence that he stole the stamps? I assumed he either bought them, or they were given to him.
Why should he have left them to the Nation rather than to his family.

And the RF can have the horse which is due to me - nowhere to keep it.

If we all google 'Queen's 90th Birthday celebrated in Vientiane' we can read that there was 'was a large celebration in the garden of the British Ambassador's Residence. The director of the Lao Post Samith Khanthikone together with the artist (who made the pic on the stamp) presented a specially framed print of the stamp as a gift to the Queen. Ambassador Evans accepted the gift on behalf of the Royal Household and announced that the stamp will be sent to London and added to the Royal Philatelic Collection'.

       .....................................................................................................................................

Oooooh, let's take that little story and throw it out to the unthinking, unanalysing herd, and make it sound as if the RF STOLE the stamp, if possible making it sound as if it happened since the late Queen died. Don't on any account let them know the details of the story.

My older brother stole my stamp collection. He said he was just taking it for safe keeping. Or that he got our books mixed up. Or maybe he just wanted to look at it or something. I got it back eventually. Well, he put it back at my Dad’s house where all my childhood stuff belongs until I want it, even though I’m an adult. I’m not sure he ever took it out of Dad’s house actually. Maybe he just moved it to be next to his stamp album. He put some more stamps in there. That made me kind of mad, actually.

If I were you all, I’d just think of a Charles as my big brother. He might have your stamps but they aren’t going anywhere.

Weird that this old story suddenly popped up again.

If that story is actually true, no disrespect to the late Queen but her lecturing someone about not having a job when you've been a royal your entire life and never had to work a day of your life is laughable

Also, maybe it's just me but I find it ridiculous and sexist how the women marrying in always have to be exceptional, educated, smart and beautiful while the men can be not the brightest, lazy, mediocre,... and never get criticised.

During their dating years, William obviously did as much military training as he could to avoid royal work but he never got criticised for that. Meanwhile, Kate was the one constantly getting torn apart for "not having a job" even though she had to quit her job because paparazzis kept showing up.

Meghan is obviously very successful, smart and educated. Both Chelsy and Cressida are educated, smart women. Harry didn't go to university.
Could you imagine the backlash if Harry married a woman with no education?

Kate Middleton 'stung' after Queen Elizabeth II ordered she get 'proper job'

Kate, the Princess of Wales shared a special bond with her late grandmother-in-law but the royal demanded substantial changes to her lifestyle.

Maireas · 17/08/2023 10:09

That is an interesting story. Any claims that the Wales' have any "control" of the press is risible.

tigger2022 · 17/08/2023 10:38

I don’t believe these new leaks about things HM supposedly said about Kate. We very rarely hear what she really thinks about anyone so it would be odd if she was only ever indiscreet about Kate. It’s quite rude and goes against everything else supposedly leaked about HM. I think they are made up.

LimeCheesecake · 17/08/2023 11:02

The Middletons definately traded off their royal connections and have screwed over smaller business owners, but that’s not their daughters fault.

@AliceOlive 🤣 , my big brother collected stamps too!
I do find stamps bring out the avarice collector in us all!

I never collected stamps but I did collect Pokemon cards… I caught ’em all but sadly they were stolen at school. The Queen wasn’t a student at the time but she did fail to provide an alibi for the day in question, so I can’t rule her out

Maireas · 17/08/2023 11:38

It wouldn't surprise me if the late Queen stole your Pokémon cards, @tigger2022 , now that she's been outed as the equine and philately thief of our fine nation. The mystery of what happened to Shergar? Mystery no more. Ended up at Sandringham.

tigger2022 · 17/08/2023 11:40

She was known to her family as Lightfingered Lilibet

jeffgoldblum · 17/08/2023 11:43

@tigger2022 , so sad! , you caught them all! Then someone stole them 💐
@Maireas, joking aside, I thought it was the late queen mother who was rumoured to be light fingered?
(Disclaimer!) I may have imagined this or saw it on spitting image 🤣

Maireas · 17/08/2023 11:46

It was actually the late Queen Mary. Not so much light fingered as somewhat avaricious. She would routinely visit people and comment favourably on a rug or an objet d'art, and the generous hosts would feel obliged to gift it. She was born to a very aristocratic but very impoverished family, and always liked to aquire gifts of value. See "Granny's chips".

jeffgoldblum · 17/08/2023 11:51

Ahh @Maireas , you could be right!! My memory isn't the greatest! , all that history I learnt literally falling out of my ear!! 🤣

Maireas · 17/08/2023 11:53

I think "Spitting Image" like the "Crown", falls into the category of entertaining but absurd fiction.
Fun, though.

jeffgoldblum · 17/08/2023 11:56

Yep !! Was naughty too ! , I wasn't supposed to be watching it as I was too young and it was after the watershed !
No I didn't learn history from that or the crown ( both fiction!) but I did study it briefly, can't remember a lot of what I learnt 🤣, used to be quite good at French too! , can barely ask for the toilet or a ham sandwich now ! 🤣

CathyorClaire · 17/08/2023 12:51

No-one bothered about more royal greed and rapacity then.

Just the way they like it 🤑

AliceOlive · 17/08/2023 13:09

@jeffgoldblum stamp collectors are a breed unto themselves.

MrsFinkelstein · 17/08/2023 13:10

We are bothered @CathyorClaire , but the problem is that the examples given so far have all been shown to be overinflated whinging that don't show what they claim it does.

CathyorClaire · 17/08/2023 13:39

In that case (and I don't agree with you) surely there needs to be a tightened policy on royal gifts administered independently of the palace.

It's not good enough to leave the royals or their aides arbiters of what constitutes a gift to the state as opposed to a personal gift.

jeffgoldblum · 17/08/2023 14:01

Indeed they are @AliceOlive 😉
