Was mainly family members in theirs 70s , in another 20 years when William is crowned will there only maybe 5-7 people who are working royals ?

I think the King will have to enlist Beatrice & Eugenie when they all retire, until the Little Waleses are old enough. There’s also the Earl of Wessex and Lady Louise. I would also like a world where Mike Tindall becomes a working royal because that would be very funny. William himself might be more willing to enlist his cousins when he’s King, otherwise he’ll have to seriously reduce what the crown does.

He'll likely still have Edward and Sophie, although they will be elderly. But he'll have his wife, three children, plus, likely, their spouses. So that's maybe nine working family members, six of whom will be younger than him.

I was wondering about this too. The slimmed down monarchy could be a lonely place for William and with no siblings to support him it wouldn't be surprising if he wanted his cousins more involved. William only became a full time working royal at the age of 35 so there could be a long wait for his children to step into the same role.

William is never going to be lonely. Got loads of family support, a lovely wife, 3 kids, cousins, aunts and uncles. When Charles has gone he will be fine. Many people have far less family.

Beatrice and Eugenie attended some of the ‘Big Lunch’ events yesterday I thought, the same way the other working royals all did - sure I remember reading it on the BBC - I wondered whether that was an indication they might be used a bit more.
