Coronation blues

Is anyone else really sad about the coronation? Can't even afford to buy myself a birthday cake today but 250million spend on this after the jubilee and Queen's funeral in he last 2 years...

Most of the 'spend' is wages which therfore helps those staff and the economy.

I enjoyed watching the coronation, interesting and historic. The armed services were amazing. The money spent was worthwhile, the fabulous coach was built in 1762 and has just been refurbished. The money spent would be spent in about 2 hours by the badly run, inefficient NHS

What is actually wrong with you. You think that money spent on refurbishing a golden coach is money well spent when there are people in this country like the OP who can't afford to buy a cake. How can this be anybody's thought process

Revenue .UKHospitality the trade leader estimate 350million plus generated.Flights in by tourists this weekend 11 % up.Things are tough but at least full hotels,bars and restaurants generare income for many businesses that may be just hanging on.Like hospitality needs the boost from Xmas and millions of us celebrate that in an increasingly secular way .Our farm shop was rammed this morning with people stocking up.They won't all be ardent royalists.But the extra revenue will be very welcome.

I was ambivalent about it until I saw them in the gold coach. People are struggling to put food on the table and we're splurging millions the nation cannot afford on a one-hour ceremony. I'm sorry you're having a shit day, OP, I wish you a happy birthday though. Flowers

Its expected to bring £1 billion in revenue to the economy

it was my birthday last week and my children ran me a bath and left me alone for an hour so I could shrivel like a prune. It was the best gift they could give me. Hope you have some You time and feel loved, regardless of the scroungers in the gold coach xx

Bless them. I've had a day of hearing all about the older two's dad's wedding all the while silently fuming that he denied the youngest was his and left me when I was pregnant. Can't stop the kids talking about him though xx

Op for what it's worth I wasn't saying that its better big business was making money and you don't get a cake 🙄
I was meaning the money spent on the coronation might create more money for the economy as a whole.
