The first part of a two part documentary aired tonight on TV. Anyone watch it? What do you think?

So far in the first part it hasn’t told us anything we didn’t know. I think next week’s episode will be more interesting but I have read already how the production team were just so flabbergasted with the entire circumstances surrounding the actual interview and various happenings before, during and after.

I think they could have easily reduced this down to one episode merely focusing on the lead up to the interview, what happened during the interview and the aftermath. After all this is what the whole crux is about. All his early life is well known.

Yes I watched.
I didn't realise it was a 2 parter.
I too think it didn't need to be 2 episodes.
There was a fair bit of filler that was unnecessary.
Cringe inducing for his family. Both his immediate family and siblings.
I hadn't realised there was such a big age gap between Andrew and his older siblings.
Fergie looked lovely in some of the early shots with Beatrice and Eugenie.
As did Selina Scott - she was a great broadcaster why did she fade from public view ?
Quite a tough but flirty interview with Andrew Smile
He had a life of privilege but blew it. Idiot.

I watched it. I thought it set the scene very well, rather than rushing everything. I appreciated the older footage and the contextualisation of Andrew's desire for money and position, and the origins of his appalling lack of judgement and lack of diplomatic propriety, and how this developed into gullibility in the face of an arch-manipulator like Epstein.

Some of the early footage from the 1960s of the family was fascinating, and I hadn't seen it before. An unhappy family being unhappy in its own way.

I appreciated the context as well.

The second episode is on channel 4's on demand service for anyone who wants to watch it now.

Thank you

AutumnCrow · 07/05/2023 06:45

Thanks - anyone seen it yet?

I just streamed the documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew. Is this the documentary being referred to here?

As did Selina Scott - she was a great broadcaster why did she fade from public view ?

She sued one of the tv channels (5 maybe?) for age discrimination. I doubt it helped her career.

She also had a spat with Donald Trump which I think hampered her in the US.

I think I did watch it, I've watched so many royal docs that they blend into each other. However, I am going to watch it again now in case I missed anything, and part 2.
