Daisy chain how dismissive.
Funny how these people did not protest the Queen.

If people are arrested for peaceful protest, then released without charge, would that show up on a DBS check and cause problems in the future for them?

rattymol · 08/04/2023 11:51

It would show up in an enhanced dbs.

The leader of the protestors had to use a megaphone to try and be heard over the cheers.

Anyone who thinks there weren't protests about ER II's accession clearly wasn't paying attention. There were fairly major protests (more that 60 people!) from at least the November before her spring coronation, plus co-ordinated criminal damage in Scotland.

Lesser protests now will have even less effect on the reputation of the new King Charles than those against his mother had on hers.

I respect their right to protest but do not think it was appropriate outside the Minster where an important religious service was taking place.

They were all MNers Grin plenty of anti-Royals on here.

c'mon, 60 people, that's a pathetic turnout. There are more people in Tesco on a Sunday morning.

Yes in 1986 in New Zealand.
Not three times in less than a year as has happened to Charles.

Not just then, in the UK as well.

Charles has some way to go to beat Harold Wilson who had absolutely loads thrown at him at one stage on the 1970s - 14 or so in a couple of weeks. He probably holds the record!

BlobLobIaw · 08/04/2023 14:38

If I didn't have to work, and pay taxes to prop up a monarchy I do t want, I'd have been protesting too. I expect a great many stuck working to survive feel the same.

I don't know anyone in real life who supports the monarchy.

Thanks for the photograph of two men protesting the queen in Glasgow. I did not know that had happened. Brave of them then when there was so much adoration for her. Although if it happened now you would dismiss it as only two people.

Of course IRA supporters in Northern Ireland did not support the royal family. Do you understand the history of the troubles? To compare that to people who do not accept Charles as king is frankly crass.

Serensester yes Harold Wilson was an elected politician who was voted in and then voted out. Charles would not be king if there had been an election for the position.
