Being seen ONCE in months that should read

She hasn’t been seen much this year, as Harry’s done most of the spadework for the Sussexes this year but I think four times in 2023 she’s popped up.

  • 27th Feb - featured in an advert on Instagram for a coffee brand she’s connected with
  • 1st March - papped going in the front of a club (that specifically has access for celebs to enter unnoticed).
  • 9th March - Harvest Home
  • 9th March - papped at a restaurant

Would you be my personal bodyguard then please?

I've been attacked on here, with a faux concern about me just about having a breakdown. Why don't you stick up for me then?

And if you could do it full time, that would be great, because it happens regularly.

I. Am. Not. The. Thread. Police.

My point is that you cannot claim the moral high ground, be a victim and denounce all forms of bullying when you are complicit in it on this very thread.

My first post on here was that I was warming to Meghan again since she stopped selling stories, lying to place herself as a victim, and was concentrating on her philanthropy.

This wasn’t good enough and I was told that I was displaying misogyny by changing my opinion of her to being more positive again.

It is this level of insane defensiveness that makes it impossible to converse on, what is a completely trivial, matter. You can not mutter a single negative thing about this couple. I have not seen this on any other thread about any other celebrity or celebrity couple and, yes, I think it’s unhealthy.

Roussette · 31/03/2023 12:43

the royal family do not 'employ' tabloid journalists

Eh? C&C have employed a top Daily Mail executive as their Communications Secretary.
You can't get more 'tabloid' than that!

AutumnCrow · 31/03/2023 12:43

I wonder if perhaps Meghan underestimated the nature of class snobbery in Harry's world. It's a completely different beast to that encountered in 'Hollywood dynasties' (see e.g. the narrative of the world of Gwyneth Paltrow). Both the UK and the US have snobbery, but the UK's in the circles in which Harry moves is uniquely and esoterically brutal. It's 'normal' to him to he doesn't completely see what she sees, possibly.

That and the media's tendency to idealise, devalue, discard in a cycle - sometimes the Daily Express can go through the cycle about a person in one day (and call it 'balance') - leads to a dysfunctional monarchy being dysfunctionally reported.

Their head of comms for C & C is former editor of Mail on Sunday, and her son works for ANL.

One of Queen Consort Camilla’s best friends is the recently appointed editor in chief of the Independent. He is also formerly EIC of the Daily Mail.

That’s why the Independent is reading more like the DM recently. A sad outcome for what was previously a globally respected, reliable centrist newspaper.

jeffgoldblum · 31/03/2023 12:44

Writing about his own life = fine
Writing about other's personal lives = not fine .

derxa · 31/03/2023 12:44

I thought we had a right to free speech in this country. We are allowed to criticise public figures on MN within talk guidelines.

Roussette · 31/03/2023 12:45

Harry's or meghans phones have not been hacked recently and even in the ongoing case which is over incidents that happened when he was a teenager, I don't believe his phone was hacked then

So... because of your dislike of Harry, you don't believe his phone was hacked, is that what you're saying?

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 12:45

And people can object to the way you do it, within talk guidelines.

That's a great post. And very interesting. I do often think of the phrase about USA v UK...
'same language, but worlds apart'

Such cultural differences will definitely have contributed to this whole sad and sorry situation. And class snobbery is alive and kicking here. A very different beast in the US

@blitheringblackberries , can I ask why you started this particular thread and then disappeared?
Seems rather goady !

I think this makes perfect sense in terms of PR strategy. If you want to know how the tabloids work, get them right in and pay them for their insider knowledge and contacts. It’s logical.

Hiring people who are ignorant of the way tabloids may work or merely know the theory behind it probably won’t be quite such a successful strategy and not such good value for money.

And it is the taxpayer’s money so they should spend it wisely on their strategy.

Why are you particularly picking up on ME? I just don''t understand.

I have not mentioned the word misogyny AT ALL. Are you confusing me with someone else, or thinking I am responsible for everything that everyone who doesn't dislike Meghan, posts?

PlanetLuna · 31/03/2023 12:52

I have never read an autobiography or biography that didn’t include references, stories, and anecdotes about relatives, friends, teachers, etc. Like, other people. 😂

Howsimplywonderful · 31/03/2023 12:54

Nobody fact checked Meghan’s anecdotes when she was a cable actress and she failed to realise people would check them when she married into the royal family

But instead of realising this, she is still pushing various fantasy narratives.

Less and less people are buying into them as she keeps getting tripped up by reality and facts

Whaeanui · 31/03/2023 12:55

@GrinAndVomit this is your post I really liked and respected Meghan and her decision to raise her children out of the spotlight.
Then she embarked on The Worldwide Privacy Tour with Harry and that opinion changed.
Now she, at least seems to be, being a bit more low profile and not selling stories to the press to raise that profile so I’m happy to go to a nice, neutral, non opinion of her.

I responded to it as misogynistic because, as I said, you’re only happy to be neutral if she doesn’t speak. You also criticise a ‘worldwide privacy tour’ that did not take place. Harry promoted his book. My response is not bullying. It’s my opinion.

jeffgoldblum · 31/03/2023 12:55

Really ?
What in-depth medical info?
Penis info?
Critical comments about balding?
Personal text conversations?

I'm clearly reading more boring autobiography's .

Like Charles’. I posted a video of him talking about other people in his life and showing the boys private moments.

Bullshit.
I like her more because she is not lying in interviews.

A better strategy would be to stand up to, challenge and crush a brutal, corrupt, exploitative, and bullying system like the tabloid media instead of getting in bed with it.

Appeasement doesn’t work. The King is weaker because of his choice to get into bed with the tabloids.

If Harry was so wonderful he wouldn't repeat his father's mistakes. He would be above all that.

Badger1970 · 31/03/2023 13:01

Meghan and Harry both create strong reactions from people, so their names being used sells/generates clicks. Sadly for them, it's in a very negative way but I also think they made their beds with the situation.

At some point people will just be over them. Hopefully soon.

Harry & Meghan Worldwide Privacy Tour

See comments like this show how the media set a narrative and the unthinking mob carries it on. Not one word said about needing absolute privacy from them, but the comments don’t stop claiming it. Having control over your life and not wanting drones over your child’s head in your own garden, does not mean you don’t ever want to appear in public or speak again.

Yes this. But taking a view this mean not swallowing the media narrative whole and shitting it straight back out again, people are being puppeted so easily in their evaluation of Meghan and they just don't question it

You forgot, racist. They were racist. Instead of calling it out, they employed one of them.
