Harry and SNL

So Harry was in serious talks to host SNL. But it didn't happen for one reason or another. How do you think he would do if he did it in the future?

OP posts:

I do not believe he was ever in talks. But if he did do it, I am sure he would do well enough

I seriously hope they would do some King George III skits with him starring
.

😂😂😂 very poorly unless he had an auto cue and 5 years to rehearse

StormzyinaTCup · 08/02/2023 17:40

Gosh, I'm cringing just think about it, I fear it would be awful as:
a) I really don't think he would look comfortable centre stage
b) Generally speaking America doesn't get our humour
c) he is a bit of a loose canon and I would think a serious faux pas or foot in mouth could happen at any given point.

Probably a good job it didn't come to anything for all concerned.

Bugeyedowl · 08/02/2023 17:42

I don't think it's appropriate for a prince. But he does have a good sense of humour and charisma, he was very funny on Stephen Colbert and James Corden's shows.

Mamette · 08/02/2023 17:42

I’m sure he would have been heavily propped up by the regular presenters.

All hypothetical but there is quite a difference between guest and host. Can’t stand the man but credit where it’s due to James Corden as he has managed to pull it off successfully. PH is no JC or SC.

Sense of humour? Charisma?

I can pretend to have all the sense of humour you want if you pay me millions.

As for charisma, more difficult to fake.

Bugeyedowl · 08/02/2023 23:35

He does. And it shows, because he's free to be himself and you can tell he doesn't give a toss anymore what the press have to say.

milti · 08/02/2023 23:39

@Bugeyedowl oh yes, he’s not sensitive at all is he? And he would never bear a grudge - he’s super resilient like that

I haven't seen him on Corden but I did see some of his Colbert interview - although not all. He does have a sense of humour and I personally, do think he's charismatic, but Colbert poked the tiniest bit of fun at him and he didn't like it. He scrambled to get on board with the audience laughing to turn them to laughing with him rather than at him but he looked uncomfortable.

His problem is he's very thin skinned. He's happy to make jokes about others but not happy when they're pointed in his direction. I mean, he's still harbouring grudges about William making jokes about him when they were both teenagers. I don't know how he would ever cope working with comedians who are free to lob whatever joke they like at him.

notanotheroneagain · 09/02/2023 11:43

The whole point of a biography is to talk about your past. That's the exact point !

For the first time, he has a book and talks about certain points and how he felt at the time.

Never saw any thin skin either, he took the jokes onboard and went with them. What are you talking about?

purpledalmation · 10/02/2023 12:48

A man who laughed at a disabled woman, shagged the hired help and blabbed and clearly didn't give 2 fucks for these people, yet smashes cameras when he is caught rolling out of pubs drunk because he is entitled to behave in any way he chooses, has no honour or dignity. Certainly no sense of humour and no self awareness. Someone with these glorious traits couldn't host a piss up in a brewery.

Plitvice · 10/02/2023 13:30

Just when they thought it could not get any worse for SNL 😝
That is so random. He is not quick witted
He doesn't have experiences which others can relate to
He is now known as a tell-tale - guests could never relax in his company for fear of being written about for money
I'd love to see who started the rumour. 🤔

AutumnCrow · 11/02/2023 22:48

I think any talks probably stalled after the audition.

JADS · 12/02/2023 06:16

SNL is the show with the skits? I could see him playing Henry VIII, he gives me those vibes.

I wonder where that little titbit leaked from?

The point is, we all make mistakes when young or in the past, but he doesn't seem to have a capacity to self reflect, learn and above learn to respect others and be aware of the consequences of your acts on others. There is this self entitlement combined with lack of use of intelligence (I'll give him the benefit of doubt!) that is baffling.
