Will you be hosting or attending a neighbourhood party for the Coronation?

No. I can't believe the money being spent on the coronation while the UK is in the middle of a cost of living crisis. But hey Charlie and Cams want their moment. Let them eat cake eh

It's an official state event.

You may not agree with the system but stop making it personal. It would be happening whoever the monarch was and whenever a new monarch had ascended.

A coronation would happen. Charles will be choosing what kind of coronation he has.

Any coronation is going to draw crowds, require security, have global dignitaries on the guest list and involve a crown. There is really only so much you can cut when you're crowning the new King of Britain and the Commonwealth.

And they are cutting. It won't be as grand as hus mother's. But it's a coronation. We can't have home made sandwiches in the church hall and a keyboardist.

I hadn't thought of it, because I'm not British and I live in Ohio. But it might be fun. Maybe I'll add a Coronation theme to my book club meeting that month.

Could read some Hilary Mantel or Alison Weir.

Wolf Hall would be a good shout.

Yes, it's excellent. Although I enjoyed BUTB more.

I found Wolf Hall very readable though saw the BBC TV adaption first.

I spent my teenage years reading through the school library shelf of Jean Plaidy books and since then haven't tended to enjoy historical fiction books as much.

So did I! Jean was such a good read.

Jean Plaidy. The four Mary's, ladies in waiting to Mary, Queen of Scots. I read loads but this is all I remember.
