After all the excruciating embarrassment of the 'Spare memoirs' it is quite striking to realise that the only person who could actually topple the monarchy is the apparently 'cheated on' Kate Middleton. If he did and she forgave; the power is all within her hands. The public won't accept another Diana and she is the nearest thing. With her 3 small children and she has done her 'duty'. Harry is indeed a spare, his book and media tour oozes contempt and jealousy and yet if Kate pulls the plug out of the sink they are all fecked. This is the jealousy that MMarkle has. She is a small fish in Kate's pond.

I’m sure he probably was banging Rose whatsit, but who cares? It goes with the territory and I reckon Kate will put up with anything.

Besides, royal or not, a child that grows with both Mummy and Daddy cheating and so publicly, is bound to have fucked up ideas about marriage. Not exactly had the role model, has he? Yes, the same role model for your children card that gets thrown about on MN whenever a spouse so much as sneezes in the wrong direction.

What a load of nonsense. The only way the monarchy could be "toppled" (assuming we won't have a bloody coup) would be by an Act of Parliament and none of the main political parties have any appetite for that. All the Royal nonsense distracts the plebs from their own bullshit.

You've made a thread about Catherine, Princess of Wales and then a sentence about the Duchess of Sussex being jealous of her. It's all a bit weirdly eastenders. This is royalty not a soap.

Her name is HRH The Princess of Wales.
I mean, there's no problem with a woman keeping her own name on marriage, but this particular woman has chosen to change hers. Do people continue to use her old name as some sort of slight?

The PoW was brought up in a two parent, three child family. She had a secure nuclear family upbringing and appears to have a normal upbringing and still has a close relationship with her parents and siblings. Her family, with the exception of an Uncle, have behaved circumspectly with no talking to the press.

As the mother of a future King she is best placed by far to bring him and his siblings up in as normal a way as possible, given they are members of the RF. I do not believe she would do anything that jeopardises her children’s futures in terms of their health and well-being nor their inheritance.

the opposite, to keep her own identity? There has been more than one princess of Wales and perhaps a title only matters to particular people, like yourself?

I agree and she has done good job, all I am saying is she has the power because of the very stability she has created.

I can imagine in the future there will be programmes about William cheating and how the British public were surprised and horrified that the fairytale wasn't true.

I don't know why think history doesn't repeat itself.

And knowing how much it affected Diana, i feel for Kate.

The Royal Family would do a Diana on her. Leak stories saying she is mentally ill and not to be trusted. Say she is anorexic or bulimic as "proof" of wider mental illness with lots of photos of her looking very slim. Leak saying she she lies all the time - bridesmaid story and tights would be used to support this. Leak stories saying she was a nightmare behind the scenes - turnover of staff would be offered up as evidence. Say she is a bad impatient mum - evidence of Louis misbehaviour would be used. Say she was very pushy and learned this from her mother - stories of Carole would be used as evidence.

It is what the Royal Family do. They did to Diana and even today there are people who trot out stories about Diana that are lies. They would do it to Kate and the Royalists would lap it up and start claiming they always knew Kate was a wrong un.
