Waiting for Givenchy response....

Givenchy is haute couture and delivered ill fitting bridesmaid dresses that requires a tailor to spend 4 days fixing them.

Can't wait to hear their side of the story.

They know H&M have no credibility, so there is no need for them to reply.

LadyKenya · 11/01/2023 09:35

Really? I have better things to do. This is so tiresome.

KatesLipGloss · 11/01/2023 09:36

I doubt they'll respond

And I doubt this account will make even the slightest ripple in their couture world

Better things to do that mean you can't quickly hide a topic and go about your day, but can take the time to moan about it? 🤔 I'm loving all this nonsense but the "Why must we talk about this?" crowd - who you would think had their eyeballs taped open - are bringing it down.

I don't see Givenchy commenting. I bet they signed confidentiality agreements. If they bitched about difficult rich famous clients they'd go out of business.

WerkinMum · 11/01/2023 09:40

Givenchy made the dresses from measurements only - they didn't have any actual fittings. They were given incorrect measurements they didn't make any mistakes.

StarInTheHeavens · 11/01/2023 09:42

They won't respond.

BillLius · 11/01/2023 09:43

Has Meghan worn any Givenchy since?

hoppityscotch · 11/01/2023 11:11

They are quite busy I'd imagine

toomuchlaundry · 11/01/2023 11:20

Why weren't there previous fittings, why didn't they have an expert standing by to make any adjustments?

queenofarles · 11/01/2023 12:01

CWK is no longer at Givenchy and there hasn’t been any couture shows since 2020,

It's not just H&M though. Kate and her dressmaker thought they were beyond saving and needed to be remade.

What does this mean for people who don’t follow the fashion world?
Has the brand lost its reputation/about to go bankrupt?

No , but the Meghan affect was not enough , both dresses she wore looked ill fitting and creased ,
Prior to Claire , Riccardo Tisci was creative director and was a huge success , he designed so many popular pieces that were all reasonably priced plus the more expensive pieces and couture shows.

customers who only had £400-£600 to spend on Givenchy were still able to buy a clutch or Tee with the famous Rottweiler print.
he designed Kim Kardashians wedding dress and it was a big hit.
Claire threw all that away and focused on designing cape jackets and dresses, her designs for chloe overlapped with Givenchy , That was a big mistake ,
Her contract wasn’t renewed , although some says she was the one who was not in favor to renew.

7Worfs · 11/01/2023 12:49

Thanks @queenofarles That’s quite interesting!
The world of high fashion seems to be so full of rumour and intrigue, second only to a hereditary monarchy. 🤭

I was also very puzzled by this. A average child doesn't need "measurements". You just need to know the age or height at most. Even 90% of Primark dresses fit perfectly fine off the rack. How did Givenchy fuck up so badly? The dress for Charlotte sounds like it was made for a girl at least 2-3 years older.

Fangdango · 11/01/2023 23:30

I would guess measurements provided were wrong (possibly because different kids were in the line-up originally). Givenchy as well as Kate's advisers explained these dresses couldn't be altered successfully at that point.

So once it was decided to stick with the dresses, an outsider had to be asked to alter them as well as he could, and did a good not perfect job.

The mistake was making dresses from measurements only.

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 12/01/2023 00:11

@queenofarles what do you mean ‘both’ of Meghan’s dresses? Her going away dress was Stella Macartney.

Her evening dress didn’t fit either; see picture for version that fits:

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 12/01/2023 00:24

@Shelefttheweb
I know exactly the dress you mean and I agree it didn’t fit. The point I was making to @queenofarles was that it was not Givenchy, it was Stella Macartney.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 12/01/2023 00:27

Actually, Meghan’s dress looks nicer than the other one. The Green one is too tight.

One guess is someone measured in cm and they have thought it was inches.

Also if Charlotte is very slender, like her mum, standard clothes might be too wide. Says a mum who's taken in pjs before. I've a normal kid and a slender kid. And I'm nowhere near slender

Shelefttheweb · 12/01/2023 01:02

One guess is someone measured in cm and they have thought it was inches.

That would make them two and a half times too big which is (very large) adult size.

Sugarfree23 · 12/01/2023 01:11

That's true maybe rule that though out. But something has got mixed up somewhere.

Frenulumetta · 12/01/2023 01:25

What's the big deal everyone knows dresses need alterations for weddings kids grow so what. Can't quite believe there were no actual fittings for such a high profile royal wedding but oh well. The tailor fixed it they looked lovely meghan looked amazing and all of her dresses fitted nicely I thought, she wouldn't want skintight dresses and I think the way they fitted was much more classy than clinging to her every curve like the green cocktail one shown above. Kate n her had a row they were both stressed big deal thats what happens before weddings. As ambassadors of so many important causes they should all realise how utterly petty n pathetic this whole thing is and get upset about aids and landmines instead of overpriced frivolous frocks that most of the commonwealth can only dream of wearing.
