"I want you to be happy Harold"

Someone please explain to me why Harry didn't believe this. When PW swore on their mother's life that all he wanted was for his brother to be happy why didn't Harry believe him?

Harry says his brother "crossed a line". He used the trump card he hadn't used before which they had promised to each other they would only use to get through to each other for something really important.

It seems to me that PW didn't utter those words lightly. That he chose the moment to use his trump card because it was so critical to get through to his brother. Then why did Harry reject his attempt as fake? Why isn't this explored in the interview?

I too felt sorry for William in that moment that Harry described, and wondered why Harry didn't believe him. Very sad.

DeoForty · 09/01/2023 22:38

Because his actions didn't reflect what he was saying. Seems obvious to me.

Harry seems to be the person on mumsnet who decides to go no contact and can’t understand why they received no Christmas cards. I find it sad that he seems to actually want them to contact him. I also think they do want to contact him, they are scared for his well-being but how is a truce even viable when Harry has conditions. I don’t understand how he believes this is a betrayal by William but discussing the code is not.

Harry attributes a lot of feelings and thoughts to people without real evidence, I notice. It must be sad to be so suspicious of everyone all the time.

Blockedleftear · 09/01/2023 22:46

I imagine when it was said to him, he took some of it in…then told Meghan and then a lot of his feelings were then based on her reaction/view…

PicturesOfDogs · 09/01/2023 22:47

Another thing I noticed, is when he was asked if he thinks they will be watching the interview, and he said ‘no, they probably won’t even read the book’ or something.

He really reminded me of a small child, desperate to be looked at. And like a small child, absolutely no awareness of cause and effect

The way he tells the story in the interview, PW said that to him when meghan want there. It was just the two brothers and Charles. It happened after Prince Philip's funeral when things were looking bleak but some communication was still open

Very sad.

I found the fact he thinks his brother and father won't read his book really dad too. He really does feel like the black sheep. So sad.

William the Conqueror defeated King Harold at the Battle of Hastings. I did wonder if that's where the 'Harold' nickname came from.

And the thing is, he has now made it impossible for them to do so confidently knowing that every conversation, disagreement or anecdote is for sale to the highest bidder

Wait until tomorrow when all the journalists have read the whole thing in English and we might find out.

(As an aside posters who desperately shout "anyone?? Anyone??" Every 5 minutes because their post hasn't garnered the attention they believe it deserves really piss me off)

As an aside why should the OP (or anyone) care what pisses you off?

Yes me too! Maybe PW was genuinely trying to get through to his brother and instead was misunderstood

This is also what I thought. Yet Harry claims no one has tried to reach out to him.
What he wants is all his family grovelling and begging his forgiveness for perceived slights and unfairnesses. Yet he has a complete inability to see where he has caused hurt and pain himself or behaved inappropriately.
Charles also sounds like he has tried hard in his own way.

In many ways Harry seems like a petulant teenager not a man of nearly 40. What kind father is he going to be himself when he’s full of rage and anger and always looking back to the past?

Justcallmebebes · 10/01/2023 22:52

Waaay too much weed. That's my theory anyway. His paranoia is off the scale

Blossomtoes · 09/01/2023 21:57

Meghan, who fed into the paranoia, wearing Diana's perfume

Please tell me you made that up. That’s just sick.

That has been reported before - very creepy if true.887

Because Harry is so thick, so emotionally immature and so enmeshed in his addled brain fug that even writing those words down for his book didn’t make the penny drop.

We can buy the ‘truth bomb’ books of Archie and Lillibet and find out for ourselves in a couple of decades.

purpledalmation · 12/01/2023 14:33

Because he's having MH problems and has brainwashed himself into believing nonsense.

He is a master projector. I’ve noticed it a lot.
