Harry's ghost writer

I can't find his name to look him up but I saw it yesterday. I heard this person is 'award winning'. But some of the things like 'mounted her like a stallion' are unbelievably crude. Does anyone know who he is & what awards he's won? If this style of writing turns out to be true then Harry has been sold well-short, even if the details are cringey.

Helpfully H&M have since issued 2 pages publicly to put the killing number in context.

It was helpful - in confirming it was foolish in any context.

The fact that they still defend it and can’t see that it is problematic is revealing.,

If it wasn't your intention to be aggressive, then I apologise. But to me when you say, " but you do you", that's how it comes across.

It really wasn't. You do you is a neutral statement to me, another way to say agree to disagree.

To be fair this is why I struggle to maintain regularity on message boards/forums. I really struggle with tone.

You'd honestly say, hey this book might be rubbish so don't praise it!

I think the proof required to trash something needs to be in general higher than to praise something- but I’m generally a nice person who doesn’t like to denounce people for the fun of it

I think he signed up this deal and was locked in to detail a very long time ago - when he was raging.

I would have hoped that years down the line he would be reflective and less bitter.

It would be hard to see that in NF as so much was edited by them or B roll used to cover when contentious statements were made.

I think the interviews coming up with ITV, CBS and ABC will be interesting to see where his mood lies. Although these were recorded before the leak and we don’t know if the interviewers had read the book or what limitations they were working within to be awarded the exclusive interviews.

However PH is scheduled to do a live interview on Tues on The Late Show - so expect that to be the most revealing of where his head is at.

To me, you do you is dismissive. It's the sort of thing where one person presents their side as being very reasonable and then say "but you do you" which by implication is that the other person's side is not reasonable.
I accept that's not what you meant. I guess you meant agree to disagree or we all think differently. That sort of thing.
Honestly, I care so little whether Moehringer liked something or not. I don't even know what he liked. But even if it was by accident, he was still reading it all, negative as well as positive. So maybe he needs to adjust his filters. 😉

If he returned the advance and paid the ghostwriter fee, could he have refused to have the book published?
That's what an article implied. That he withdrew his permission for ot to be published which sent Penguin Random House into a tizzy. However, turns out he had nt hadca change of mind, he didn't regret any if it and he was only delaying publication til his grandmother had died.

You're absolutely right in that it'll be interesting to see what his mood and tone are like in upcoming interviews. I'm far too invested in this . . .

MarshaMelrose - the contract would be mind-boggling but if he'd tried to get out of it, I'd imagine there would be more penalties than just repayment (and that would be millions). When I've worked with celebs, there has sometimes been a clause that, if they pull out, they'll also have additional fees to pay depending on how far it's gone - miniscule compared to this but I've never had it happen.

Perhaps the unedited version was a whole lot worse and Harry was insisting that he wanted to get everything in there. Perhaps this is the watered down version of what was shared. Didn't the ghostwriter 'like' a tweet regarding difficult clients a few days ago? Perhaps the ghostwriter was primarily answerable to NF according to how the assignment was set up.

Yes him voicing the audio is going to slap him on the arse…..!

I wonder if there will be additional sound effects - will he will be huffing and puffing and neighing during his recollection of his frolic with a filly in the field?

Theres an interesting article by a ghost writer in the Telegraph more or less saying what you have. Except hardly anyone knows who he is! That’s the point. We now have a celebrity ghost writer who hasn’t given the best advice. I suspect this is due to the sums of money involved and the need for sensationalism. They had to justify the big bucks. However Harry should have received better advice regarding the inclusion of some stories, quite obviously.

As for poor translation?! Does anyone truly believe that English to Spanish and back to English, translated by experts, won’t be accurate? Of course it is. It’s not as if it’s a little spoken language with few experts.

That’s the straw clutchers - alongside their other desperate plea to silence opinion - wait til Tuesday for context.

They must be devastated that their hero has dished out all of this dirt they can’t cope with after defending him for years.

But maybe Tuesday will be worse ….

I don’t think there’s more.vWell not big revelations. The interviews might reveal a bit more or dig bigger holes of course. Translators work pretty fast so the juicy bits are out there now. Minor info to come maybe?

I've often wondered what the ghost writer does when some ghost-written books are so awful and I'd assumed their job was to create decent prose from the ideas they're given.

I hope he's lawyered up; because going on past form with the documentary it's only a matter of time before PH starts grizzling that the book isn't what he wanted and he's not happy with the finished product.

Moehringer deserves a medal for sitting through that lot. I do wonder how he kept a straight face.

I think that overall themes will come through (spite? jealousy? delusion? vulnerability?) and also any fact checking or inconsistencies with what he has said previously.

I wonder what he will deem success?

Increase in his own ratings by general public or being feted by the media he despises? Or just the US public / media / A lister opportunities?

😂I loved it when some knew that the leak had already happened and she was still telling the plebs that it was all top secret and that she would take charge of moderating the literary discussion on x date in the future.

She does have a couple of fans who wouldn't know any different. She would have you believe that she is the only educated person on MN with that sniffy attitude she keeps up 90% of the time. It slipped on the Chelsey Davy thread which seems to have gone.

it’s always boggled my mind how often and blatantly our resident expert know-it-all contradicted themselves yet the fans continued to lap it up 😂 posting messages on an online forum doesn’t count as working in the literary world. Also, the name changing never worked as the pompous condescending tone makes them v identifiable 🕵️‍♂️

I agree. The deleted thread was all "excuse me miss" and "listen honey" 😂basically taking offence to the fact that somebody had innocently pointed out that they liked the sound of Chelsey from Harry's own description. I didn't even contribute to it because I knew it would vanish.
There are poster who quite obviously know she is making it all up. Today, it began with some drivel about being privileged to travel extensively and spend half of every year in marvelous Scotland. Just like the Queen 🙄

A shame to have missed it, it’s hilarious their tired old arguments (haterz jealous racists) have suddenly become obsolete since the book leak 😂 also when they kept hinting there was going to be some big reveal that would justify all the hypocrisy - guess not!
