The royal family

I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become

“My hope is that in telling my story...I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think”

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2021/07/19/prince-harry-write-intimate-heartfelt-memoir/

Not sure what I expected when I first read the above Telegraph article but the publisher’s description of the book being “one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story.”....is laughable!

It is #1 seller on Barnes and Noble and Amazon, both in the US and UK.

CEO of BN said pre-sales have been similar to Michelle Obamas book.

Harry and Meghan are laughing all the way to the bank.

I think that is what is so funny about this. The more hate is spread, the more money they make.

Only fools who believe anything he or his wife think or say matters at all would buy this book and fill his bank account with even more money. The pair of them are the biggest con act around- false, selfish, entitled, privileged, whiney in every way.

I've enjoyed this farrago as much as anyone. It's Greek tragedy and Shakespeare come to life.

I have yet to comment, my only thought is;

You are still the Prince you think you're not.

Self-knowledge is not as easy as you think it might be.

I’d like to know which part of the princely story us plebs are supposed to be so inspired by?

This is what I meant when I started the thread. I know there are 100’s of threads about each story in his book but the Telegraph article used words such as inspiring, heartfelt, authentic and so on. I honestly expected a profound and motivating book. Not more mudslinging and certainly not details about his and his brother’s penises!

Also I thought he said proceeds from the sale of his books will be donated not what he has already been paid by Penguin publishers.

The problem is that there will presumably be no proceeds until sales have covered the multi million advance.

“…details about his and his brother’s penises…”. So - a book about a pair of pricks, then?! Grin

As much as I am not a fan of Meghan, I really find it difficult to believe she finds Harry, the man (not the Prince) attractive. Apart from his titles he really doesn’t have much appeal.

The irony is funny.

The practice is sad.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean. Maybe that you believe people don’t want him to make money but they are helping him make it by posting about him. I think that’s conjecture, though.

What I do find ironic is that he wanted to tell “his story” and be understood/vindicated. But this book is achieving the opposite of that.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/01/2023 21:01

What exactly is inspiring about a straight white man, born into enormous wealth and privilege, making a laughing stock of his family and friends?

onlylarkin · 08/01/2023 21:35

@AliceOlive but the books hasn't been read in full by anyone but the press. From the exerpts, full pages of texts instead of what the press wants us to see, don't sound near as bad as what the press is saying.

No matter the translation or treatment, these are topics that I feel are inappropriate for public consumption and the first one is his right/business but the others are clearly not

✅ His penis
✅ His brother’s hairline
✅ His brother’s penis
✅ His father, the King’s Bear
✅ His SIL’s hormones
