I am not defending them - not Sussex nor Cambridge.

For me it shines a much needed light on the institution of royal family, the role it has in our society, and our role with it.

If we insist on this model - first born takes all - then the first born should be held to a MUCH higher standard than the rest of us.

If not, make public the accounts, put the whole concept to the vote, explore other ways to have a royal family.

At the moment it is only about a dyfunctiona;l family filled with drama, hurt, pain. and grief.

An actress from America did not bring this about.

Class system, elitisim, racisim, dysfunctional parents (going way back) brought this about.

Surely it a good time for our King to step up, show some diplomacy, and some leadership and fix this?

Harry and Meghan are as flawed as the rest of the royals but they’re fighting an unequal war.

If RF wanted quiet they would have brokered peace long ago. Sure they don’t like Meghan but surely for the sake of the institution, they could have compromised.

I am sure there has been a lot of negotiations behind closed doors before all this revelations.

H&M don’t have a lot of skills and in need of a lot more money and they are using the only tool they have to earn money.

I have no sympathy for either side as we normies have bigger problems but it is quite amusing to watch.

Fair question. Frustration, I suppose. I don’t understand why people are queuing up to be vicious about people they don’t know and are never likely to know. It’s nasty.

It’s not defending H&M, I don’t really care about them tbh. The whole lot of them seem to be weirdos, racist and peado’s in my oppinion. But, I don’t get the idea that every H&M say is wrong but everything from the RF is right. One side clearly have more of a vested interest to push a squeaky clean narrative than the other, as you all say, H&M have already burned every bridge and cashed out so they have nothing more to again. And we know that the RF lie and the media manipulate us. It makes no sense to me that we are so desperate to fall for every twist and turn of H&M oppinion when we know that they all are lying to us!

There are many words I would use to describe PH but coward is really not one.

How can we even begin to think the Royal Family are vunerable in terms of the press? They always win. They can only win if you have the press onside.

I said in a post some time ago that as the function of royalty is no longer to lead in battle, or govern the country, they now basically give us something to look at. That view can be with derision or admiration, but it is only since Victoria (OK George III was OK except for his unfortunate illness, his sons most certainly weren't) that we have had this expectation of a wholesome family. That is down to the luck of some strong marriages/personalities, with a few blips, then the late Queen.

We do need to ask ourselves what we really want from them, especially in an age when little can be kept secret or private. Perhaps we should ask them too.

i think he is cowardly, or perhaps utterly deranged. It’s beyond low to take private and intimate information about your family and release it in a book in this manner. His brother being circumcised? His father needing a teddy as an adult? Are these details a decent human being would release about family members? They have fuck all to do with him and are private.

It cannot be excused as a breakdown or on a bipolar episode because the book has had a lot of external input and been a long term project.

However their crazy level of competitiveness with W and K is really deranged. That is all based on what has come from them directly. How utterly exhausting.

We don't know the context behind M's baby brain comment. She could have meant it jokily, as a way to bond with another female, not expecting Kate to be so cold about it. I have many friends with kids and they talk about baby brain all the time, it's clearly not "gross" as some PP mentioned above.

Perhaps M didn't realise how obsessed with rank W&K seem to be if their own siblings/siblings in law can't talk in private and bond in a (casual?) manner. The RF don't seem to be a very warm or close family.
