Harry and therapy

So, immediately after being knocked to the ground by his brother, PH contacted his therapist. Fair enough, I suppose. However, when Meghan was allegedly feeling suicidal, they had no idea what to do. No-one helped them. How absolutely ludicrous!
This whole sorry saga gets more and more ridiculous with everything that comes out of his mouth.

Seriously, you don't see the difference between a suicidal person stuck in a country full of r.cist snobs who hate women with opinions versus one wanting to talk about a complex sibling relationship??

I read the Daily Mail to find out what rubbish it's telling idiots. It's the most widely-read paper in the English-speaking world and I think it's fair to say the comments are pretty representative of the way many Brits think. On the very day Harry and Meghan's engagement was announced, I wondered what on Earth was going on because suddenly the comments on an article about Kate were not hateful and sexist. Then I switched to the engagement story and saw comment after comment that used words like "ape" and "banana." Then I read a few "respectable" papers and was no less shocked. As someone with dual citizenship who has also lived/worked in various other countries, the "welcome" Meghan got left me slack-jawed in shock.

Meghan and Harry have faced a relentless and incredibly nasty onslaught from the tabloids from day one. Yesterday we found out that Harry's own family was likely involved. Everyone elsethe public, the papers, his familyhas been allowed to say whatever, and yet the typical attitude from the British public is like yours. That Meghan and Harry should have to shut up. You and I would defend ourselves in the same situation.

They did the responsible thing and got the hell out of the UK when the nastiness drove Meghan to depression. That didn't end the nastiness. It continued. The Daily Mail has drummed up nastiness in the UK too--all driven by creepy Piers Morgan, who (very tellingly as far as attitudes in the UK) was basically stalking Meghan in the middle of #Me Too because she turned him down. He has been totally open about doing it and no one has blinked an eyelash.

I have avoided most of the recent coverage because although it's understandable that they want to defend themselves, I just can't see Brits waking up and realizing how awful they've been and how shameful their attitudes about race and gender are. Or how insecure they are about the US and how that insecurity drives a lot of nastiness towards US individuals (like Meghan). But I understand why they feel the need to defend themselves.

Meghan is that you?

Antst · 06/01/2023 13:38

@gloriagloria99, thanks for demonstrating my point! It's odd that a country so dependent on tourism is so in denial about what has happened here. It's disgusting and I'm not even remotely a royalist. Choose to make flippant remarks instead of making any effort at all to think about the situation if you like! That sends a strong message about attitudes here.

gloriagloria99 · 06/01/2023 13:47

Nobody knows what happened other than those involved and they all have their own take on it

Antst · 06/01/2023 13:52

@gloriagloria99, another great British technique for shutting down unpleasant news!

I have only rarely heard that comment as far as any of the nasty tabloid articles about this couple. It's only now that they're defending themselves that Brits are both-sidsing things.

You obviously read the Daily Mail OP, since you know so much about what they print 😉

Violetparis · 06/01/2023 13:52

Antst you should read the comments on this article in The Guardian, it's not just Daily Mail readers who are fed up with Harry.

Sorry comment not directed at the OP

How do you know i am british?

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 06/01/2023 15:09

@Antst

Did you read my post?

In case you missed the point of it, it was that Harry, who had accessed therapy for himself, apparently had no idea how to access therapy for his wife.

I don’t quite understand the purpose of your rant.

@gloriagloria99, well if you're not, take the hint that you sound like you are! In this situation, that would be a concern for me.

@Ireallycantthinkofagoodone, yes, I was clear about what you said. You don't seem to understand what I said, which shouldn't have needed to have been said. That a suicidal person requires very careful thought. Harry and Meghan left. That was the solution and as someone who does have UK citizenship, I'm ashamed to say it was obviously the right one. She was never going to be anything but vilified in the UK by people who just won't admit that there's a major problem with racism. This is a shameful situation for the UK.
