The royal family

Will H&M be invited to the coronation in May? And will they have the brass (or frostbitten😩) balls to attend?

That is the million dollar question?!

Maybe someone with Constitutional knowledge could answer this . If Harry doesn’t swear allegiance does that have any impact on him as a Royal Duke ? There’s something niggling at the back of my brain about this but can’t find the answer .

I wondered similar @BethJ62 I also wondered if he handed back the Sussex dukedom (or it was taken off him), what his surname would be (as right now I believe it's Harry Sussex)? It can't be Wales anymore as Prince Charles is no longer, so just wondering what it would then become. Presumably Windsor?

DuchessofSandwich · 06/01/2023 13:42

@BFR

He obviously doesn't believe how hated he is.

It looks like he thinks that all the hate is against his wifes race. He doesn't understand that a lot of the hate is against his actions and words.

I think Archie is Mountbatten-Windsor on his birth cert so thats presumably what Harry would be too if he was no longer titled

XanaduKira · 06/01/2023 13:44

Thanks @miri1985 I wonder if he'd have to formally change his name by deed poll or how names work for members of the Royal Family?

If he really wants to troll he could go Saxe-Coburg just to underline the un Britishness of the lineage.

The Duke of Windsor (formerly King Edward VIII) didn't attend the Queens coronation and kept his titles so presumably its not a legal requirement

He can choose between Windsor ( the general family surname) or Mountbatten-Windsor (the surname for descendants of Phil and Liz to use when they need a surname and none other is available)

Or of course could, like anyone else, start to use a completely new surname of his choosing

Anniefrenchfry · 06/01/2023 13:51

I don’t think they will be there. But Charles can’t uninvite him easily or there will be another barrage of abuse.

how it goes down I don’t know, but I don’t think they will be there

StallionHarold · 06/01/2023 14:08

I think Charles will invite them.

If they don't come, then I doubt they'll ever set foot in the country again

Aurorabored · 06/01/2023 14:12

If they’re invited, everything that’s said, done, not said, not done or just anything that isn’t as they think it should be will be in the next book or tv series.

Did he not sign the oath of allegiance somewhere else ? I seem to recall reading that but could be havering.

picklemewalnuts · 06/01/2023 14:15

They could go my Windmark.

Reallybadidea · 06/01/2023 14:22

I think they will be formally invited and informally it will be made clear that they are not welcome.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 06/01/2023 14:40

Literally could not care less!,

WeeWillyWinkie9 · 07/01/2023 20:15

Harry will be there watching the new king while the world watches the king dick.

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2023 20:17

I hope Charles will invite them then the ball is in their court

Blossomtoes · 07/01/2023 20:46

I suspect that the King will be strongly advised not to invite them after the Taliban revelation. Harry was a security risk before, that’s increased exponentially.

bakalava · 07/01/2023 20:55

What will the theme of the next book be if they attend?
Sophie sucked her teeth at us.
Mia Tindall blew a raspberry at Meghan
Kate aka the devil copied Meghan's bracelet
and so on.

Mumsnut · 07/01/2023 21:10

I think the level of stress on Charles, Kate and William particularly, would be unreal if they came.

Harry makes demands, we know that - for example, demanding to wear the uniform he was not entitled to, demanding to bring his wife to Balmoral when specifically asked not to. William makes concessions to try and placate him - eg, taking off his aguillette.

And then what might Harry say or do during the oath of fealty if he felt like disrupting things?

I can't help thinking that Edward, Anne at al must place some blame on him for hastening DofE and HMQ's deaths and there would be massive tension over that. And since then there has been SPARE

For everyone's peace of mind, it would be better to not invite them and have that unpleasantness over with by the day itself.

Then the rest of them could relax.

BethJ62 · 07/01/2023 21:13

I am reading that Harry will have no role in the Coronation. Only William will kneel to swear allegiance .

OMG can you imagine the tantrum is they are not invited ? Better to invite them and see if they have the brass neck to turn up .
Wonder if Meg has started making her gown ?

toomuchlaundry · 07/01/2023 21:16

The way he is complaining he was sidelined at William's wedding, Harry would only be happy if he and Meghan were crowned at the coronation nothing else would do
