Why do people keep calling Harry Harold?

His name is Henry. What is the Harold thing about? What have I missed?

Harold Godwinson ( c. 1022 – 14 October 1066), also called Harold II, was the last crowned Anglo-Saxon English king. Harold reigned from 6 January 1066 until his death at the Battle of Hastings, fighting the Norman invaders led by William the Conqueror during the Norman conquest of England.

I had assumed it was a 1066 “ in joke”. Like the royal version of someone called Wayne calling his girlfriend Waynetta or similar.

Why do you keep posting this on threads of this topic? That Harold had nothing to do with Prince Harry.

My friends son is called harry, literally that’s what’s on the birth certificate. I call him Harold when I’m teasing him or chiding him, he’s a young adult,

it’s amusing as it’s such an old fashioned name. I assume that’s why hus family do it
