To think physical fights between two brothers in their thirties is bloody weird - why are people normalising it?

William and Harry had a physical fight in their thirties - sorry but this is not acceptable and is plain effin weird.

And I have not been a h and m supporter in any way I think they're ridiculous but this is shocking that every tv programme and commentary about this is like - oh well it's just brothers fighting?!!

So we are condoning violence now in 2022?

No one has the right to be physical with anyone, not even brothers - AIBU? (Please be subjective even if you dislike Harry!)

It sounds like totally made up shite if you ask me. None of their stories are really hanging together any more.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 05/01/2023 19:51

I have 2 older brothers, this is quite believable. Extreme, but not unbelievable.

GentlySobbing · 05/01/2023 19:56

People aren't normalising it, they just aren't blowing it out of proportion. As assaults go, a shove during a heated argument between two grown men isn't a particularly serious offence.

Like how stealing is wrong, but you wouldn't expect someone to be on the evening news because they shoplifted a KitKat.

Theunamedcat · 05/01/2023 19:59

It's not unbelievable when I was with an ex of mine he stormed into the house infront of his brother slammed the door (didn't lock it just slammed it and kept walking) his brother rushed up to the door and punched a hole through the glass brothers fight rough no matter the age

Anon778833 · 05/01/2023 20:01

Of course it's weird. I really like how this whole thing has blown up and the toxicity of what it means to be trapped in the RF has been exposed.

Royalists are majorly pissed off because their perfect illusion of the RF is now in tatters and their identity hangs on the fact they were born in
a country which has the RF. They'll have to find something else now....

I don’t get to ‘condone’ anything else the Royal family do or don’t do so why should I give a shit if two brothers have a fight? They can fight all they like for all I care. He couldn’t care less about me or the general public so why am I supposed to have sympathy for his stupid privileged sibling spat? Does he even have a clue about anything else that’s going on in the UK at the moment?

Is he asking for sympathy or just saying what happened from his perspectve.

bellac11 · 05/01/2023 20:03

I remember reading in one of the Kemps autobiographies (not sure which one), they used to come to blows in the band all the time

No one will start a thread about that though

Yes although with Charles cheating on his first wife and confessing to it on live TV Philip's racist remarks and well Andrew being Andrew, they probably already know they've been gasl ighted.

pictoosh · 05/01/2023 20:09

I should think it's quite common. Why do you think otherwise?

How are you defining 'normal'?

maddiemookins16mum · 05/01/2023 20:22

I think most brothers would stop scrapping at about 17. It’s weird.

Goosefatroasts · 05/01/2023 20:28

I don’t think it’s that weird. My husband fell out with his brother in their 30s. His brother avoided him as he seriously thought my husband was going to punch him. He wouldn’t have….. but then he might have done I’m not sure. Admittedly they are from a deeply dysfunctional family but they seem to be healing now in their 40s. They kissed and made up!

Bri5 · 05/01/2023 20:38

Honestly I think Harry assault in Taylor Hawkins is worse. He slapped a stranger in the face as a “joke”. A joke Taylor did not find funny.

Actually disregard, I just read a better source on that and Taylor admits it was in good fun, he was pissed at first but got over it.

William is old enough to know to keep his hands to himself.

Luredbyapomegranate · 05/01/2023 20:42

It’s that it’s being blown out of proportion - shoving each other in your 30s isn’t desirable behaviour, but as a one off it isn’t THAT weird. Plus of course there will be another side to the story.

purpledalmation · 05/01/2023 20:46

Most brothers in their thirties, do not live in the same building, albeit in separate areas.
W & H simply live close to one another, work for the same firm, liaise closely on business matters. Do engagements together. Their families are closely intertwined, far more than normal. They are partners in a company together, and therefore quite likely to get into heated altercations.

My brother lives miles away and i see him on high days and holidays. We don't fight for that reason.

purpledalmation · 05/01/2023 20:47

It was also at a time of high tension, wedding, pregnancy, childbirth etc. along with complaints and resignations by staff because of meghans rude, difficult and abrasive behaviour and William was upset his staff and wife were being bullied.

pictoosh · 05/01/2023 20:52

So many of you write on these threads as though you were there yourselves.
Is it just escapism?

Rushingfool · 05/01/2023 20:56

I think it's weird that this happened, but Harry says that William said "I didn't attack you, Harold" as he left so that makes me think there are two sides to this story. I don't doubt Harry fell on the dog bowl, but whether William deliberately shoved him is another matter. Trouble is, there have been so many half-truths, from both sides, that the public are now taking everything with the proverbial punch of salt while simultaneously revelling in the shitshow.

Rushingfool · 05/01/2023 20:57

Pinch of salt, not punch! Freudian slip if ever there was one! 😂

Speedweed · 05/01/2023 21:03

Ninjapot · 05/01/2023 19:08

And how many new threads do we actually need about this bloody book?

Ha, so true! @MumsnetHQ, any chance you could create a sub-section like covid or cost of living? 🤣

Hadtochangeforthisone · 05/01/2023 21:49

He killed 25 people .. but couldn't defend himself against his brother ...

He really needs to get a life .. a life away fro this shit as HE requested.

Woodenheart33 · 05/01/2023 21:56

Because this country is sadly still full of forelock-tuggers which is abundantly clear from the posts on this board. Some would no doubt like to take a leaf out of KC'S book and set up residence in inside a royal orifice if they could.

Spirini · 05/01/2023 22:04

That's exactly what my husband said! @jannier

The most stupid 'argument' I've ever heard 🤔

Thank you
I am shocked by the number of people who think it is normal for siblings to have physical fights when they are both knocking forty.
It is definitely not normal .
It seems to me that some posters are condoning and excusing this behaviour because they don’t like Harry.
It is disgraceful behaviour and very embarrassing.
William’s anger issues are documented
Even the biographer of his book ‘William at forty’ mentioned that William can be over sensitive and touchy with a short fuse .
