Fascinating. What do we think?

I think it's extremely said and distressing.

Feel awful for Harry.

I can't access the article, I am getting a paywall.

Is the Telegraph a reliable news source?

Where did this information come from, what is its source? Palace source?

If this is true, well Harry's been validated again this week hasn't he?

To be honest, we don't know for sure, it's just what the Telegraph is reporting. Speaks volumes though.

Andrew barely goes anywhere now so £3M seems a bit steep!

I suppose they'll use the excuse that Harry doesn't live here any more so that's why Charles will pay for Andrew or some such rubbish.

DahliaBlue · 20/12/2022 02:25

Well someone has to pay and presumably Andrew cannot afford it. I do hope the money is coming out of Charles' privatecmoney rather than the state allowance

AutumnCrow · 20/12/2022 02:27

Three million quid? Three million a year??

DahliaBlue · 20/12/2022 02:27

Agree 3 million seems a bit steep. Don't worry. Charles has plenty. I do think that living here is relevant.

MarshaMelrose · 20/12/2022 02:30

I wonder where the papers get these sums from? Tomorrow the Sun will have upped it to £5m then the mail will be saying upwards of £5m. Then the Mirror will report could be as much as £10m.

AutumnCrow · 20/12/2022 02:34

Can't they just teach him karate or something and give him a panic room?

I don’t think I’d bother with security for him, tbh, he’s not going anywhere much and certainly not representing the RF publicly.

HitMeWithAHotNoteAndWatchMeBounce · 20/12/2022 02:47

I’m not in the UK, but surely this will come out of Charles’ pocket and not the tax-payers…?

But even so, if he’s willing to pay for his paedophile-associating brother’s security himself, why isn’t he willing to pay for his son’s…?

As someone who was utterly sick and tired of H&M, this is the second time this week that I’ve begrudgingly agreed they have a point and were right to make the decisions they did.

HamBone · 20/12/2022 02:50

The article says that Charles is “likely to” so it’s really just speculation.

onlylarkin · 20/12/2022 02:59

@tatalan Thank you for the link!

Interesting that the author never alludes to a source. I did a web search and saw the reporting on the tabloids. I didn't bother clicking, but I am sure it likely says a palace source.

I am also wondering about the timing. It is my opinion that we are about to see the media turn on the RF. So much of what H & M were saying seems to be turning up as true and the tabloids may be about to throw the RF under the bus to save themselves.

Charles could have a real opportunity to modernize the RF right now. Band together with H & M to take on the media, continue to be Defender of All Faiths, be a good example of fighting against global warming. Sigh. Pipe dream.

Because Andrew lives close to already secure premises and doesn't travel much. I doubt he's looking for 24 hour guards. He doesn't work anymore so not required for every day duty.
Whereas Harry wanted security for all four of them 4/7, so if they'd need the children to have security at home if they were away. Plus Harry and Meghan travel extensively round the US including making several trips a year to Europe. When they travel abroad they have to pay for a whole team to go so they can have shifts off.
You're talking about a much larger amount of money.

And, no, it's not taxpayer funded.

Prince Andrew was just in Bahrain the other month. I'm not buying the quiet life business. He will be joining the family at their pre-christmas meal, only a matter of time before he's back in some unofficial capacity.

I hope Harry fully gets the message this decision sends.

But what about those trips to Pizza Express in Woking?

SantaStoleMyPies · 20/12/2022 04:38

Everything about that odious man (Andrew) makes me think it's time the RF went.

He epitomises entitlement and the toxicity of never hearing the word 'No'.

Is he eligible for a bus pass yet? He could just put on a hat and go by bus, no one would recognize him. 😁

Oh, you’re right.

Prince Andrew is much more deserving.

You’ve well and truly convinced me……………………….

Stopclutchingpearls · 20/12/2022 04:50

Just heard this on the radio and my first initial thought was oh my God they’re willing to pay for Prince Andrew, but they didn’t want to pay security for Harry and Meghan. Harry who served in Afghan who has had a lot of threats as well The veil media that Megan gets.
