The royal family

To think Harry and Meghan are a busted flush now

Just that really.

They’ve done their documentary, the book is imminent, and after that there’s nothing more to say.

And there was nothing earth shattering in the documentary.

Does anyone else wonder why the cameras were rolling for most of it?

But there’s no more material to find as they’ve left the Royal Family now.

It will be interesting to see what they do in the future.

The more I see if it all the more I know I have absolutely no interest in picking sides. A wealthy dysfunctional family are arguing, all products of their upbringings. It’s a bit predictable, and quite sad to watch. I just try to avoid it.

Spambod · 17/12/2022 20:40

Hi op. I think they wanted to get the money to set up their new status and give them the money to be a list philanthropists and go from there. Each time something happened to the royal family they could have a constant income as royal expert pundits. As Harry so ironically out it, it’s a dirty game…..

They’ve played all their cards and are out of the game now.

Nope don’t agree at all.

Surely that Clarkson quote is meant to be sarcastic? Because OBVIOUSLY nobody thinks MM is on a par with Rose West. That would be literally insane. I do like Meghan and I don't like Clarkson and I'd never go near The Sun. However, I think he might be making a (bad) joke that everyone thinks middle aged men like him are out for blood.

CampervanKween · 17/12/2022 20:45

So uninterested in H&M I wish they would just fuck off and go for this quiet life they said they wanted. So unfair to their family to air their arguments from their point of view knowing the others can't put theirs. Horrible behaviour.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/12/2022 20:46

If they and their shows bother you so much, just don't watch them. My Christmas gift to you @Butterflyfluff is Choice.Xmas Wink

I do hope that some people, whose views on Meghan and Harry are of course almost entirely shaped by the tabloids, will read that Jeremy Clarkson piece and realize that what they’ve been digesting for years is just deranged, racist, misogynistic rantings from awful human beings.

people

That’s assuming those people are not themselves deranged, racist and misogynistic.

It’s worrying when injustice becomes so commonplace that it’s accepted as normal. The Sun is a widely read paper by normal people. This is bad.

HairyToity · 17/12/2022 20:54

I agree OP. They've played their ace and it's not got the result thry want. They need to go back to the drawing board.

CampervanKween · 17/12/2022 20:54

That's horrible from Clarkson but where I live the Sun is boycotted so normal people around here won't read it. But yuck. What a wanker.

Sadly I have lost any sympathy for H&M. They've turned themselves into money grabbing parasites. I'm sure that the royal family have faults but this is demeaning.

Butterflyfluff · 17/12/2022 21:16

Could anyone explain why they have seemingly filmed their every footstep?

Even from before they decided to leave the RF?

Why would they have done that if it wasn’t always intended to make this documentary?

Collecting evidence?!

I think that’s obvious.

What would you do if people were making out you were a liar? You’d make a case to prove your truth.

I must be missing something here - who made them out to be liars?

Until they started saying things that were demonstrably untrue - like actually being married in the back yard.

Why would they think anyone would believe them at just their word though? Collecting evidence is important if they knew they needed to back themselves up. Sounds like once Meghan and Harry worked out how the palace and press work by discrediting others who might criticise the royal family.

Why do you think any organisation keep records? It’s for in case they need to prove something if they’re accused of lying.

like actually being married in the back yard

But there was an exchange of vows in the presence of the archbishop in their backyard. The distinction is that it wasn’t a legally binding marriage at that point.

There was some truth to it. So it’s not “demonstrably untrue”, it’s their truth that those vows sworn in their backyard in the presence of the archbishop was more meaningful to becoming married.

  • married publicly

A busted flush?! Isn’t that something that happens to toilets?

No, it's a poker term

DwpDwp · 17/12/2022 21:59

Until they started saying things that were demonstrably untrue - like actually being married in the back yard.
So they had a private but not legally-effective ceremony in their garden a few days before doing the grand, televised spectacle. Accusing them of speaking untruths over that is just pedantry.

Not here on the royal family board. Apparently it was a terrible lie and slight to the British public, the church, the Queen and the institution of marriage...

She said “Three days before our wedding we got married”

How anyone can argue that’s anything other than a claim to actually being wed, is beyond me.

Sayitagainmyl · 17/12/2022 22:54

OP, get a life. MN has become a cesspit for the unhinged.

It doesn’t take much of a leap in imagination to think that they may have considered their private exchange of vows to be their real ‘marriage’ in a personal sense, even if not a legal one.

Insisting that it was a purposeful, easily-refuted lie as to when they were legally married, and that it cannot possibly be otherwise understood, just reads as you being determined to see the worst in them.

Really?

For starters, it questioned the integrity of poor Justin Welty who was probably doing them a quick schmaltzy favour. It would have been illegal and he had to come out and defend himself. If someone accused me of breaking the law through my work I’d be fucking furious.

Also by describing the wedding as a ‘spectacle for the plebs world’ to the point they had to have their own special ceremony, is quite rude considering all the people who turned out to celebrate, held street parties and wished them well with genuine kindness.
