Wow. The amount of mean comments about Meghan and harry. Not shocking but I am speechless.

At this rate, I hope Meghan and harry drop some real bombs about what happened during their time in the UK. It's clear will, Kate and the whole lot are not very nice people.

It’s not clear at all !
Like everyone they will have flaws but nothing to suggest they didn’t try to make Meghan welcome ! In fact think back to the engagement interview when everyone and everything was wonderful. Think back to how close W, C and H were for years . Think back to all the pre M outings etc .
Then tell me they aren’t nice people.

Getting their 30 pieces of silver…

Sigma33 · 02/12/2022 11:15

'haters'?

They are putting out material for our entertainment, if we find it entertaining then why not watch it and discuss?

It's not different from Bake-Off, the Kardashians etc etc

We might not find them entertaining on their terms, but that's the risk anyone takes when putting themselves forward as a public figure.

peaceandove · 02/12/2022 11:18

I think that Meghan was very frustrated that despite all her grifting, she was still only a 2nd rate actress in a 2nd rate TV show. Imagine her fury when she realised she was only ever going to be a 2nd rate royal, too.

That would make the RF Christ like ...... when it's more like "Jesus Christ on a bike - they did what !" Rumours are Camilla is a right old soak......and went to India for a "dry out". Had the plane not been hit by a bird the British press would have said nowt.

Bit nasty including that picture of Kate and William at the Church Service. If I were Kate, I'd be furious.

all true but in a world of empty headed social media celebrity she gets an A+. Probably ends with Harry doing whisky ads and Meghan launching a celebrity line of clothes, perfume and jewellery and getting clsoe to a billion up. Netflix is seed capital - you ain't seen nothing yet !

Meghan actually said in her interview with Oprah that the all of the family made her very welcome.

I had chosen not to watch this but after seeing the reference to Kate then I watched it. What they continue to do is unforgivable and I can see why William will detest his brother even more now. H and M are like a pair of toddlers throwing their toys out of the pram and they just can't stop. They will never sadly get what M desired. She seems to be a spiteful angry woman who is more to be pitied. For all her smiles and coy statements she is so unsatisfied with her life. Her own family life is a shambles. Who is she to preach? Harry is a puppy on a lead.

I don't think so. Their moment for building that sort of 'brand' has passed. They have a small group of utterly devoted fans but are extremely polarising, and I don't think any brand would want to take the risk on a pair of middle aged former royals.

Plus, they don't have social media and are rarely seen in public. Brands want exposureand a positive vibe. They're not going to get it from these two.

The RF are not cakes or some sort of unfeeling inanimate objects. It's like metaphorically gutting them for a crowd's entertainment and shouting "are you not entertained?". How would you feel if people you knew got free rein to go and say biased and untrue things about you with no way for you to give your side. Would you think that great entertainment, too?

What good work??

You might well ask. All the excellent work the Queen Consort has done over a prolonged period to highlight and support victims of domestic abuse has been completely overshadowed by the Susan Hussey debacle this week.

'The family she never had'.

Nice for Doria to know.

You lose the right to take the moral high ground when your behaviour begins to look as unsavoury as that you complain about

How very true - and how sad that it's something H&M appear not to have learned

You may well be right and their staleness is probaly becoming a thing but then they have celeb backers and Elton is their bestie with the best connections in the business ....

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2022 11:36

It is hilarious

Hopefully once this and the book are out they’ll have made enough cash to last them
and can crack on with whatever they want to do in peace, while allowing the relatives to do the same. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, and not to say there aren’t justifiable grievances on both sides, but it’s always depressing to watch people stabbing at each other like this.

I wonder whether part of H's resentment is because he grew up surrounded by friends from inherited wealth - so they had the polo ponies, the holidays, the privilege, but without the scrutiny of being in the RF. So that's who he compares himself with, he doesn't realise that his social circle is not the experience of 99.99% of the populaton.

And M had a mental picture of being 'royal' that was not based in reality - and when her mental picture clashed with reality she saw it as prejudice against her, rather than her expectations being unrealistic.

I always thought similar but recent events have made me wonder how many digs she got for being mixed race, american and not of the hangers on class.

I still think she clearly behaved badly and that she was poorly prepare but H clearly had issue predating her and does seem to have been resentful and unaware of his privilege.

I wont' watch as I don't want more of this type of dross but I don't I'll avoid knowing any highlights as so many people seem to be gleefully discussing them/pull them apart.

I can't see where the go in future though - clearly their plans to spring board off the frame aren't working and people are already tiring of the rehash of the short live being working royals stint.

British people pay for the RF. Commenting on them is one of the few perks we get.
The RF know that their wealth and status is in the hands of the British public which is why the class system continues. There’s a whole hierarchy desperately maintaining their own survival.

WinterLobelia · 02/12/2022 11:46

I actually did not realise that was a Hermes blanket she was crying in front of. I thought it was a personalised monogram. (Random comment alert).

You may well be right and their staleness is probaly becoming a thing but then they have celeb backers and Elton is their bestie with the best connections in the business ....

If they've got such high profile 'celeb backers' why have they not scored any major deals which don't involve trading on their fading royal connections?

That video is at least 3 years old. Her 'celeb friends' cared about her royal status, not because they loved the chick who played the paralegal in 'Suits'. With that all in the past, these 'friends' won't be interested.

As for Elton, I very much doubt they are besties. He would never risk offending the royal family to pursue a 'friendship' with two people who offer him nothing.

DaphneduM · 02/12/2022 11:50

Fascinating!!!! We have Netflix and I'll definitely be watching it.

All families have their issues and while this has so been played out in public - at present no-one really knows the true situation apart from those involved.

I remember watching the 'fab four' (lol) at a talking type engagement and it struck me at the time how professional and engaged Meghan was, in contrast to silent Kate. And I thought then, how will this end? I have a healthy cynicism about the royals - we don't really know what they're like - and certainly with Kate I judge by results. All those years of not working, doing the bare minimum, but somehow everyone defends her as though she's the best thing ever. Bearing in mind she came from an oh-so-stable family I thought she would have been much more confident. Personally I think she saw Meghan as a threat and is probably delighted that she's out of the way. She's now Princess of Wales, so has achieved her goal - the jury's out on how the future will pan out for any of them. But I honestly don't get the vitriol on Meghan. Presumably she's made Harry very happy - no-one forced him to do any of this. We can't judge until we've seen the full Netflix series.

I think it highly unlikely that H&M have anything of any importance to say. They have been very careful so far to rely on hints and insinuation, and that is wearing thin.

Which is why they are entertaining - the gap between the way they seem to want to come across, and the way they do come across, is so huge.

TBH it makes me feel more respect (as a republican) for the ones that turn up, smile at complete strangers and don't whinge.

Roussette · 02/12/2022 11:53

This level of hate from Megan supporter to Kate is really strange, she is not the onwer of daily mail or was the head of royal family making protocols for Megan to follow

Why do you say that? I don't hate Kate. Ot in a million years. I think she's got a horrible job and I admire her for sticking with it. She's absolutely suitable for her role and William is very very lucky

Balanced and informative. Agree with lots
