The long awaited documentray is hitting the screen on December 8th:

What with the award in a few days and the book in January they're ramping up the game.

The coronation is on Archie's birthday- I can't help wondering if that date was chosen to make it easier for them to say no to coming. It will be interesting to see if they do.

I thought the same thing.

@Serenster on another thread were you not the same one vilifying Diana for attention seeking when long lense photos appeared of her wearing a bikini on the yacht with Dodi? Maybe it wasn't you

👀 👀

Kate often going commando and showing all her bits and bobs, captured for eternity on camera.

That's a disgusting thing to say. She was on private property and a paparazzo took intrusive photos of her and published them on the internet. She sued and won. Stop victim blaming.

I think it’s a reference to the two official occasions where the wind blew her dress up and because she was wearing a thong her bare bottom was clearly visible.

I can’t remember who it was , but Diana deliberately diving in when she knew the press was watching is not at all the same thing as unsolicited up skirted photos being taken. So I don’t think the comparison is relevant.

MrsThimbles · 01/12/2022 15:29

smilesy · 30/11/2022 19:45

Sorry, are you saying she deliberately flashed her underwear?

One of the occasions was when she was going up the steps of a plane in Canada (I think) and a gust of wing blew her dress up. She was wearing a thong and her bottom was pretty well exposed by some low life photographer who took the picture.

then there was another official occasion not long after when it happened again but the occasion has slipped my mind.

MarshaMelrose · 01/12/2022 15:31

MrsThimbles · 01/12/2022 15:22

No, that's not what the reference was. The poster clarified that she regularly went commando because she liked deliberately exposing herself in the press. They claimed there were pictures of her getting in and out of taxis doing this on purpose.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 01/12/2022 15:32

My point is vilification of someone for the way they are dressed because others are looking. ( so she should not wear a bikini and dive off the yacht because she is very attractive and royal so photographers will take a photo with a long lense.

And then being angry with a poster for making a similar assumption about the way Kate or whoever was dressed.

But as you say you don't see the contradiction.

MrsThimbles · 01/12/2022 15:32

Sorry, the second time she was photographed when her dress blew up was in Australia.

MrsThimbles · 01/12/2022 15:35

I think people like that poster deliberately lie about something that did have some truth in it in order to make it all a lot worse than it actually was. We all know there are idiots here who would believe them and if one person believes their nonsense they’ll consider their job well done.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/12/2022 15:42

The trailer seems to hype the series as a huge Victimhood narrative of M&H escaping an evil RF

If this is how it turns out, I wonder if they'll address the often raised but never answered issue of why they were so keen to remain "half in" the institution?

MrsHGWells · 01/12/2022 15:46

The Netflix trailer is nauseating….. “when the stakes are this high doesn’t it make sense to hear our story from us ? dramatise our victim role & monetise our hardship?

no role ever hold hold enough power for her narcissistic ambition ..

& when will H&M uphold their promise of a quiete life?

RosettaStormer · 01/12/2022 16:08

I would love to know how the RF are responding to this. Their Xmas is ruined really. What with Lady Hussey’s appalling behaviour, this ‘documentary’ and then the book in January they just all have their heads in the hands. It will overshadow the trip to the US too.

MarshaMelrose · 01/12/2022 16:17

I agree @MrsThimbles. I probably shouldn't have said anything. But people make such baseless claims about both Kate and Meghan, that I can't help but challenge them. What made the comments disgusting was the implication she did it on purpose to get a thrill. These things get picked up, repeated and before you know it, it's a fact.
She always used to wear cute, shorter dresses with no weights in the hem. Rookie error for a princess! 😉 I bet the queen had a word. Haha.

Such a shame. It's a great charity but all the talk is about racism rather than the improvements the winners can make to people's lives. But for the time being, Hussey has made them toxic although they've done nothing wrong themselves.
But the Queen always said everything passes. And this will all pass too. H&M can't keep repeating the same things and William will be king, just getting on with his job.

Families all over the world can have a lot on their plate worry wise but still manage to enjoy Christmas an other occasions when they’d gather together. I expect the RF are the same.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 01/12/2022 16:37

Yes and Hussey won't be a racist anymore.....Confused

I can recall the comments at the time and they did involve suggesting the use of weights in the hem of her dress in future.

And I agree it was low of the poster to twist the story and make something else out of it

Serenster · 01/12/2022 17:28

Aspiringmatriarch · 01/12/2022 15:21

No. At least, I referred to Diana making a deliberate choice to go and make a series of swan dives off the pontoon raft moored in front of Al Fayed’s villa, knowing full well that it was Camilla’s 50th birthday that day, and that in doing so Diana was guaranteed press coverage alongside the pictures of Camilla’s birthday party at the Ritz. And it’s no secret who would come off best in that comparison.

I was quite clear when posting however that this was a good example of Diana understanding the power of her image and astutely deploying it. Another poster claimed that the whole discussion of Diana and Dodi’s relationship was slut-shaming, which was completely not the case. Diana was a divorced woman in her 30s. She could do whatever the f*ck she wanted. At this stage in her life she had personal agency, and she was using it. So you couldn’t be more wrong in your vilification charge.

Serenster · 01/12/2022 17:40

I am also so bored with the “Kate needed to be schooled about weighted hems” arguments. The ludicrous dress codes that mandate that women wear skirts rather than trousers is responsible for setting up an ever-present risk of a skirt versus the wind wardrobe malfunction. All the weights in the world can’t protect you from a rogue updraft - they are quite small! Or else your hemline would not flow, but clunk.

It’s a problem that has afflicted all the royal ladies from time to time. Here’s Letizia, Anne and Fergie as examples - you will also find similar images of Camilla, Mathilde and yes, even QEII among many, many others.

YumSushi · 01/12/2022 17:41

YES!!!! IVE GOT THE 9TH OFF. I'm going to watch it all. Might not buy Harry's book though

Lighten up. It's dress weights. I doubt any of those women wanted their knickers on display and flashed round the world. It's not a sin for your dress to blow up but weights help.

I don't understand what they mean when Meghan says "When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

The stakes aren't high for me or anyone else, only them - so why should it matter whether any of us hear the story from them or anyone else? Their story concerns them, not us.
The only conceivable way this sentence makes sense is if she is talking about monetary stakes or they really think that their story is so great it will have a profound affect on the rest of us.

Yes, what a weird way to put it. I'd think she's talking about their future and the necessity of being believed to keep their reputation.
