The royal family

how dare they?

how dare they think they're better than anybody else just because of being born into the Royal family?
Take Andrew today in the DM. When an intruder entered the Royal Lodge pretending to be his date, staff were too scared to check with him whether it was genuine or not. They were too s cared of his reaction on being disturbed. When I first read of this woman intruder some months ago and the fact that staff were too scared to check with him, I thought then, I bet it's because they're scared of his reaction. I'd read too many books about his rudeness and entitledness towards other people.
I'm also thinking about Harry's new book. Why shouldn't we know what goes on behind palace walls? We certainly should know how this very wealthy and entitled family exist on our money and how they think they're above the rest of us. They really are aren't.
I think of both Harry and Andrew pulling sulky faces when they aren't pleased. I'm sure this has resulted in servants rushing to see why they are displeased and begging to be told what's wrong so they can put it right . Harry in particular has perfected this art.

The medals that are given to them and that they wear and their fancy dressing up. Honestly, in this day and age?? It's laughable

To be fair to them though, if tens of thousands of people decided to spend over twelve hours of their time shuffling along in a queue to bow at the coffin containing the body of my mother, never mind the whole country being given a day off work to watch wall to wall coverage of her funeral I’d probably feel pretty important and entitled too.

You probably should stop reading the DM.

Because they are.

We live in a world where saying you are a woman makes you one and you can exchange bits of paper for anything you want- social constructs control our lives.

We pay these people hundreds of millions, we bow to them, we give them fancy titles, have rules about how to act around them and indulge their every whim- all on the premise that they are better because of the family they were born into.

It would be shocking if they weren't entitled arseholes.

Meansdottir · 03/10/2022 08:12

They don't live off "our money". You should do some research.

I all my family and friends are “better” than Prince Andrew. No debate there.

MintJulia · 03/10/2022 08:20

I'm not making excuses for Andrew (stupid and with profoundly bad judgement at the very least) or Harry (entitled and spoilt) but that story in the Mail isn't true.

The security provided by protection officers is not reliant on general staff and they have no issue in challenging anyone.

JenniferBarkley · 03/10/2022 08:29

I don't think it's surprising that if you raise generations of a whole family in infinite wealth to believe they were born to rule over the rest of us, they will often not be the nicest of people.

They ARE NOT better than anyone else!

I'd have much more respect for someone who, say, was a carer!

It actually shows my intelligence. I don't have to pretend I only read the Guardian to show how cool I am. In fact I read both the DM and the Guardian on a daily basis to get a left and a rjght wing view of things. There are important things in the mail that are happening in our towns and cities that you would never see in the Guardian and important things in the Guardian that you would struggle to find between the celebrity shitty on the Mail.

I can see your froth from over here 😅

You don't have to read it all. You don't have to believe it all either.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 03/10/2022 09:05

What a stupid op!

Underanothersky · 03/10/2022 09:08

It's not about the Mail being right wing, it's about it being trash. There are much better quality right leaning papers out there.

This - with people debating on end on forums about them too

I agree with you OP. Just enjoy the irony of the snobs on these boards accusing you of being a thicko because you read papers with different povs, it upsets their narrow little world view.

SoupDragon · 03/10/2022 10:25

Reading the DM does not show any sort of intelligence.

The DM is a nasty paper.

The DM is a nasty paper.

so is the Guardian. Try reading the readers comments on the opinion page I guarantee you'll get a shock at the language used and the inability of many of the posters to come out with any knowledge based pov other than character assassination.

Surely the comments on the opinion page are the readers' opinions and not the newspaper's.

They are not better than us. In fact, I think they are worse than my family. My family is far nicer and much less dysfunctional than theirs is.
They also do live on our money. Mainly gathered through various schemes and wheezes. The Queen even tried to claim money from the Fuel Poverty fund to heat her palaces until her plan was leaked to the press and there was a public outcry.
