William has joined him. His own mother ...

I don’t think that pointing out that the fraudulent behaviour of Martin Bashir and the BBC contributed significantly to the fear, paranoia and isolation William himself remembers from his final years with his mother is “briefing against her”.

Serenster · 03/10/2022 09:25

(Also, we already knew all of this was true by the way from the inquest into Diana’s death - the evidence of discussions and the memos recording why she refused to have Met security is but one example demonstrating this)

William knows a lot more what happened with his mother than anybody on here.

Novella4 · 03/10/2022 09:32

Diana was right in what she said

Charles consistently briefed against her ( he was jealous of her poplularity ) . Camilla and Charles treated Diana disgracefully, sneaking around and gaslighting her .
Bend your knee...
William was not defending his mother . He was reviving the old smears to help buttress Charles . He seems to be following his rule book... have a look at Kate . She's miserable

Or rather, the trunk dramatically splits in two but is fully merged at the base. A lot in common downstairs but complete divergence as it grows.

🤣🤣

I should think he knows more than anyone here and elsewhere given that he was her confidant. Poor boy. How anyone can criticise how he deals with his own trauma around his own mother is beyond me and I say the same for Harry, which is why I never mention anything he says about his mother. That said, he was younger and sees his mother through a child's eyes. William was a teenager and will remember and have seen and understood much more.

Raising the whole thing again in the Oprah interview and then bringing up awaits Katie was plain spiteful imo which is never a good look.

There’s definitely an agenda when it comes to Kate.

Her saying in the Oprah interview about the bridesmaid dress incident that “I would have never wanted that to come out about [Kate] ever, even though it had happened. I protected that from ever being out in the world” was spectacularly ironic given she was indeed now bringing up the incident in front of the global media, when she knew her sister in law could never reply (and brilliantly worded, insinuating that it was something so serious that it needed to be “protected). The whole “Kate made me cry” story was also repeated in Meghan’s latest interview in The Cut magazine.

She brought up the “Waitey Katey” label in her Oprah interview as mentioned above and insinuated that that was the extent of the mistreatment Katherine received from the press, completely minimising all the harassment, abuse and inversions of privacy her sister in law did have to live through for 10 years.

She said that she wouldn’t let her children go to school in the UK because she is “a good and strong parent protecting her child” the week before the Cambridge children all started school in the UK.

In her first podcast she said “You can pretend to be the perfect version like a Stepford wife and still have the exact same outcome as someone who is being authentically truly themselves and wouldn’t you rather live with a version of yourself where you can look in the mirror at night?” - widely taken to be a reference to her sister in law.

In Finding Freedom Omid Scobie wrote that William and Kate’s domestic lifestyle
was one that the Sussexes had seen and decided they definitely didn’t want.

“Friends of Meghan” of made a public statement that Meghan didn’t want her children to grow up in an environment without hugs and laughter, like they were leaving, and that all the Royals, especially Kate, were so uptight.

So you’re saying the Cambridge children are living in a home without love or laughter?
They seem very happy well balanced children to me with very loving parents, an extended family who adore them on both sides. Meghan seems keen to disparage their household ,
family and their character whenever she can. Jealousy methinks.

Serenster · 03/10/2022 09:42

Diana and Charles constantly briefed against each other, though! One aspect that I think would be really interesting would be if Valentine’s Low’s book covers what was going on behind the scenes in the Palace in the ;ate 80s/early 90s as it must have been an interesting time.

Just to remind you, when asked her thoughts about Charles becoming King, and whether she’d prefer William to be next in line instead, Diana was happy to say:

being Prince of Wales produces more freedom now and being King would be a little bit more suffocating. And because I know the character, I would think that the top job, as I call it, would bring enormous limitations to him and I don't know whether he could adapt to that. My wish is that my husband finds peace of mind and from that follows other things"

And don’t forget she was very fond of making sure the press attention was on her when Charles was doing something significant - the “Revenge” dress, swan-diving off a raft repeatedly right in front of all the paparazzi in the Med on the day of Camilla’s 50th birthday etc. etc. And she treated other people disgracefully too in her turn, of course.

(I think their whole dynamic was disastrous for everyone, to be honest!).

CathyorClaire · 03/10/2022 09:43

No, they don't

Do you get to pay tax 'voluntarily'?

Croque · 03/10/2022 09:43

William has joined him. His own mother ...

She is no longer here but this kind of divisive thinking is damaging to the relationship of her two children. Siblings are allowed to disagree you know.

Rapidtango · 03/10/2022 09:44

It doesn't matter how many times you say it, trying to whip up rumours, whatever, Kate looks far from miserable. The recent photos showing her looking sombre were during various services for and the, you know, funeral of, the Queen. You'd have been having a bash if she'd been grinning all over the shop.

We know you're a nationalist, but casting shade over an individual who appears to love her family and be having their company is no way to achieve your independence goals.

Rapidtango · 03/10/2022 09:46

.......be happy in their company

Novella4 · 03/10/2022 09:55

@Rapidtango

They were grinning all over the shop the night before the funeral for their Gang of Four photo op.

I'm not a monarchist and I thought it was disrespectful!

Kate has been humiliated re the affairs .
I'm sure their children are happy - they have several homes and wont be subject to parental rows like we ordinary folk !

Anyway I once had @CathyorClaire warn me that they are all the same ( W and K , H and M) and I suspect she's right .
I did love the hand grenade of the Oprah interview though .

So I'll try to restrict myself to attacking the institution and leave you to attacking the individuals that you have selected

MrsTumblebee · 03/10/2022 09:55

I doubt very much that George, Charlotte and Louis are short on cuddles and laughter in their lives.

What a thoroughly unpleasant post. You are attacking individuals.

Rapidtango · 03/10/2022 10:01

Novella4, so, not looking happy - not good enough. Looking happy - not good enough. Okeydoke.

Ohnonevermind · 03/10/2022 10:05

Reading the latest extract, wow, why didn’t Harry get his wife help.

they could have sought out help in so many places, but chose HR and then nothing.

how can he talk about helping people and being open about mental health

Ohnonevermind · 03/10/2022 10:09

I think the book makes a good point, Harry wasn’t happy in the RF, so Meghan helped him find a way out, but he also looks furious at his lot of status at official royal events so it might be best for all if he avoided them.

but the book shows that Harry is a big fuck up, so needs to work more on his mental health. I expect the book will be full of bile

Ohnonevermind · 03/10/2022 10:09

Lot should read loss of status

What affairs are those ?

MarshaMelrose · 03/10/2022 10:14

Yes the 350 million would be in the coffers . By what law does it have to be spent on the civil service ??

🙄 Not ON the CS! BY the CS. They'd still have to upkeep buildings, pay for state occasions, hosting foreign dignitaries, security for visitors, presidential upkeep etc. Do you think it costs nothing to have a president? The French presidency cost €100m last year. The Queen got £82m.

Yes. As I've already explained, I posted it to show how attitudes have changed.
I didn't expect anybody nowadays to pop up with the answer saying "It's obvious!".
Of course it's obvious; that was my point.
And it wasn't obvious up to the 80s, amazingly, when I was part of a project looking at attitudes to female surgeons.

Actually you’re overlooking something else that’s highly relevant and rather obvious:

the details, wording and phrasing deliberately manipulates the responder towards having a male bias.
