Lying in State

I am glued to the live footage (on BBC Parliament or iPlayer) tonight of the Queen lying in state. It's very genuinely moving. A lot of people are choosing to bow their head or curtsey, some people are quite visibly emotional for their own personal reasons. Everyone is witnessing the lying in state. I just saw a man decked out in medals who saluted the coffin and was very moved, probably with a lifelong history of service oaths to the Queen.

It's really quite something, a remarkable and moving piece of living history and ordinary people paying their respects. Is anyone else watching?

I’m watching and completely agree with you.

I've seen a few people with tears rolling down their cheeks, which was very moving to see.

I also saw a lady carrying a little dog, which made me smile.

I can't seem to not watch - it's quite soothing. I'm hiding upstairs as rest of family shouting at football on Tv downstairs.

Yes it's interesting watching the different responses from everyone. I also think some people are self-conscious when it comes to their time to stand by the coffin. (I would be too). It's fascinating.

I'm watching too. It's so, so touching and the most moving thing I've seen so far. Such genuine love, respect and sorrow being shown.
