If you look at 7.35, someone steps forward from the line of people on the left and throws what seems like a liquid (probs coffee from a coffee mug).

Whether one is a monarchist or not, the lack of basic human decency and respect from some people is really quite sad.

People cheering the cortège really grates on me. You don’t normally applaud a coffin, do you? It just doesn’t feel appropriate. Dignified silence is much more fitting.

When my sons swim coach died during covid the restrictions meant no funeral attendance. (Didn't die of covid)

His coffin was derived through their swim centre car park and around as we all lined the street and clapped.

Not that unusual ime.

Beepbeepenergy · 13/09/2022 21:06

@startfresh she was 96 not 93

MolkosTeenageAngst · 13/09/2022 21:06

Presumably it was some kind of marmalade Sandwich latte ‘for later.’

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/09/2022 21:09

I was surprised by the inner courtyard. Not sure if it was the lighting but it looked like it was carpeted?

Isaidnoalready · 13/09/2022 21:10

There has been no need for the mass cancellation culture we have seen funerals hospital appointments treatments postponed lady I know has been waiting months for a treatment due Monday cancelled today she needs her treatment no-one NEEDS to watch a live funeral unless its someone close to you certainly not an entire department

I said this earlier, people whooping and cheering like they're at a pop concert or something, completely inappropriate

Judellie · 13/09/2022 21:12

Must depend where in the country you are because the email from our local authorities said registrars should work where possible and funerals/weddings were to go ahead. And why not?!

LynetteScavo · 13/09/2022 21:12

Well, some people were cheering "God Save The Queen." Am I confused, or is that not quite right?

Throwing things at a hearse is obviously wrong, but it could have been something dangerous.

toomuchlaundry · 13/09/2022 21:13

@MooseBeTimeForSnow I thought it looked like carpet too. Must have been the lighting. Hope it isn’t too far to manoeuvre the coffin

Fififelix · 13/09/2022 21:13

NHS appointments being cancelled Dr surgery's closing they are already behind enough on appointments as it is.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 13/09/2022 21:15

embarrassed by the cheering, clapping is good
but i guess people do what they want

PaddleBoardingMomma · 13/09/2022 21:22

If the Queens passing has shown me anything it’s how utterly Neanderthal, crass and down right vile some people are in this country. There’s so little respect amongst these people, it’s embarrassing. You needn’t be a royalist to know right from wrong, how to behave appropriately and how to be respectful to those who’s opinions you disagree with. It’s gross.

NessieMcNessface · 13/09/2022 21:23

It’s very disappointing about the throwing of things but you’re always going to get a few idiots turning up and behaving badly on these sort of occasions. Thankfully it’s just one or two out of thousands.

I also agree that the whooping and cheering is inappropriate. Gentle clapping is acceptable I think, but silence is much more powerful.

Dunnoburt · 13/09/2022 21:24

Our doctors is having to close because there are not enough staff due to school closures (lack of childcare)....... otherwise I think they would have been BAU

TipTopHat · 13/09/2022 21:24

Our hospital is running outpatient clinics and theatres. Trying to get patients to attend is our current problem...

Wonnle · 13/09/2022 21:24

startfresh · 13/09/2022 20:38

None of the above is a suitable reason to throw something at the hearse of a 93 year old woman.

That's what this post is about. And it is WRONG.

96

@CaptainBarbosa no Church of England vicar with a funeral booked just wouldn't do it don't be ridiculous The problem is crematoria and cemeteries being closed by a Bank Holiday

Teenyliving · 13/09/2022 20:10

You know funerals are having to be cancelled on the Monday don’t you? I’d called that pretty bloody disrespectful…

It’s one day. Not ideal, but it’s an unfortunate situation which wasn’t anticipated. I would be fine with it if it was a member of my family whose funeral was postponed, but I guess it depends on your feelings around the Royal Family. I can imagine if you’re not very into the Royals, it would be frustrating.

ancientgran · 13/09/2022 21:32

Announcement from National Association of Funeral Directors has been published in some places,

"We've been asked if any other funerals will go ahead on Monday 19th September. Although work is still ongoing, some funerals will go ahead, others are moving to a different date - led by the needs & wishes of the bereaved families involved.
"Most funeral services booked for 19 September will have been arranged many weeks ago, so funeral directors and cemeteries/crematoria are working with families to find the best approach for each one."

Sorry, a slip. 73 years on the throne, I believe. Mixed up!

Still stands that it's disgusting to do.

nhs appointments will be cancelled but people will still be looked after in wards
i am not sure surgery will go ahead?

My husband has an appointment on Monday. It has not been cancelled.

My DPs cancer appointment has been postponed.

"It's one day"

Really?! It's one day that takes a lot of stress, planning and time. Usually from people who are heartbroken and grieving. It's not the Queen's fault and of course anyone doing what the OP is saying, is absolutely despicable. But it's a funeral not a gender reveal. Don't be so dismissive.

I would care very much. It is clearly saying your relative's death is not that important. It is so disrespectful.

Darbs76 · 13/09/2022 21:35

I thought I had a bang too

I don’t mind a bit of clapping but cheering I think is not the right behaviour. They’ve asked for people to not throw flowers at the hearse. But guessing it wasn’t a flower that was sent anyway
