The Prince and Princess of Kent are retiring. Prince Michael is “involved in around 100 charities and organisations, including being a patron for a large number of these”. Although classified as a “non-working” royal, each year he undertakes more than 200 public engagements for the not-for-profit sector – funded by his own household, rather than the taxpayer.
Princess Michael is “actively involved in around 45 different charities and organisations” according to the website, “including animal and wildlife trusts and health and welfare charities”.

They are 100% bought into the idea of "innate superiority" because if they weren't they'd have to question their own status.

@ginandtonicformeplease The money the Queen has is from the public.

Not all of it - she has a large property portfolio, some of which is from her mother. And I think she has the Duchy of Lancaster which is a massive portfolio.

They wont be missed. Feel sorry for them??? They've had the life of riley for years.

She has amassed an immense fortune at the expense of the public purse over the course of decades.

She reluctantly started paying income tax only thirty odd years ago. Her mother's bequests to her would have been free of IHT under the sovereign to sovereign rule (as will her own to Charles) and the income from the Duchies (they are not owned by the royals) is manipulated to minimise the tax bill.

That's before we start on what she costs the taxpayer in the form of the sovereign grant. Obscene amounts have been diverted from public funds into the queen's pockets over the years and continue to be.

@Iflyaway I realise I wasn’t very clear. It was really the Dukes of Kent and Gloucester to whom I was refer in as I know they were both told to curtail their careers in order to carry out royal duties.
