Do you think he's really had it, or was it a convenient excuse to keep him out of the way this weekend?

Definitely an excuse Imo!

Glitterspy · 06/06/2022 09:20

Got to be an excuse. To be fair they didn’t need an excuse, they should have just said “Andrew will not be attending because he is a paedophile and an embarrassment to the Queen” and left it at that.

To be fair they all wanted him there, they just couldn't for the sake of maintaining the RF. He spends his time with his dearest mammy and it will always be like that. People expect the Q to shun him, she won't, it's her son. I am sure his relatives hate that he was in that situation but this family like many wealthy people has likely vowed to look after their own. So IMO no matter what they will always look after Andrew. They will make up excuses to the public but behind closed doors it's different.

100% excuse.

Delectable · 07/06/2022 09:33

Charles dislikes anyone who would do anything to diminish the throne. That why he can't understand Harry leaving the RF "work life". He used Diana to secure his place and to get some offspring for the throne. He knows how to have his cake and eat it and would've been more supportive of Harry having Meghan as a side chick and marrying the usual white English who's family adore and aspire to marry into the RF like Kate.

Vapeyvapevape · 07/06/2022 09:35

A very convenient excuse imo

My feelings exactly

HoppingPavlova · 07/06/2022 10:39

Obvious excuse I would think

ShirleyJackson · 07/06/2022 10:40

Chinny reck-on.

JenniferBarkley · 07/06/2022 10:41

I don't know that Andrew or the Queen would have gone along with pretending he had covid. I think a load of infected footman were sent in all week to sneeze on him Grin

5zeds · 07/06/2022 10:42

A social lie to avoid everyone’s embarrassment. Unexpectedly good choice.

Sorry to derail but I just have to rant about this. The Woman Andrew abused was 17. Vile and disgusting as it was, it’s not paedophilia. People claiming it is are feeding into this whole, “ oh, but some paedophiles are worse than others” shite, which is enabling the apologists. Just stop. Andrew is a vile abuser, call him what he is.

Isaidnoalready · 07/06/2022 10:44

Honestly I think its an excuse but who cares as long as he isn't actually there

Well said! I was trying (& failing) to say it.

JuneJubilee · 07/06/2022 10:56

I'm not sure, I don't think it matters to the general public either. If it's a social lie, I think it was for the best tbh. No need to start a 'row' & it kept him out of the waY

LadyEloise1 · 07/06/2022 11:08

I'd say he was probably ripping mad he wasn't allowed couldn't make it.

Trivester · 07/06/2022 11:13

I imagine that a sensible decision was taken by the men in grey to tell him he had covid, to keep him from turning up.

How do you call someone who is sex trafficking and raping someone who is a minor?

Paedophile might not be the right word but he is certainly not just an ‘abuser’.

ShirleyJackson · 07/06/2022 11:17

He’s a rapist, not a paedophile.

Hebephilia, but 17 isn’t a minor in the uk, mores the pity, so that doesn’t apply either.

Yeah, that works.

SantiMakesMeLaugh · 07/06/2022 11:29

But he was more than a rapist. He was also sex trafficking and trafficking her. Not just a one encounter.

Thats not hebephilia either (which is about attraction to prebubescentt girls).

At 17yo, she was over the age of consent. But she was still sex trafficked as a minor. And she was still a minor when raped (which is where the paed comes from?.)
