Just watching this on catch up. I didn’t think I would learn anything new but this documentary is quite a sobering watch.

Terrifying really. A man who was King urging the Nazis to bomb Britain into submission, so he could come back and rule wirh his wife. 😟

Yes. Edward VII was indeed a serial womaniser, very jolly, a much better king than anybody thought he would be, and most importantly thoroughly dead long before there were any nazis!

I knew most of what was discussed already, just not some of the more extreme stuff. Like urging the Germans to bomb his own country.

Hence why they did the shifty namechange in WW1 - except hilariously, someone suggested just the other day that they did it "for love of country" and even that the Nazi links "had been discredited"

On Edward VIII, it struck me that Wallis actually did us all a favour, in providing an opportunity to get rid of a complete liability
