It has been reported today that he has tested positive for covid for the second time. He seemed pretty ill the first time around, so hope it doesn't take so long this time for him to get better.

His previous bout should give him some degree of natural immunity - coupled with his vaccinations and this presumably being the milder Omicron variant, I should think he'll be able to shake it off more quickly this time round.

EdithWeston · 10/02/2022 15:26

I just hope he hasn't seen the Queen in the last couple of days!

gamerchick · 10/02/2022 15:27

I'm sure he has the best medical resources available to him day and night.

Cookerhood · 10/02/2022 15:29

The article says he had mild symptoms the first time.
Hope he didn't spend the queen's jubilee day with her!

ClariceQuiff · 10/02/2022 15:29

Interesting that, once again, Camilla has tested negative - supports the theory that, for some reason, some individuals are more susceptible than others.

Monopolyiscrap · 10/02/2022 15:34

@Cookerhood Medically mild simply means not hospitalised. He looked pretty ill at the time.

Not the point of the thread, but in the link it says that the engagement he was forced to call off today was the unveiling of a statue of Licoricia of Winchester - what a marvellous name!!

And the Duchess's usually unsung work on VAWG got a mention, as it said she did carry out her engagement visiting Paddington Haven, a sexual assault referral centre, and discussing revenge porn and assault

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/02/2022 15:41

Apparently, Charles 'doesn't like wearing a mask'. Didn't wear one on a visit to a a place I know well, where every visitor has to wear one. Hopefully he hasn't spread it anywhere 😕

Apparently, Charles 'doesn't like wearing a mask'.

Oh, unlike most of us who wear masks for the sheer joy of it, then. Hmm

Cookerhood · 10/02/2022 16:06

I know we are fed all sorts of nonsense but the report from March 2020 said that he was up & about, in good spirits & working. That sounds fairly mild to me.

lambchop81 · 10/02/2022 16:08

My Dad tested positive yesterday, my mum negative. I'm very lucky I seem to have some kind of resistance to it, I'm convinced. My son with Covid coughing in my face, working in a hospital. Same for my friend she says the same.

He's almost the king he's entitledWink
DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/02/2022 16:11

It said he wasn’t aware and it was picked up in regular testing. So he’s probably asymptomatic.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 10/02/2022 16:13

Prince Charles met the Queen a couple of days ago. That's a little close for comfort.

Monopolyiscrap · 10/02/2022 16:32

@Cookerhood He looked pretty ill when he made a call from home at ill. I can't remember if we saw a video or just photos, but I remember thinking he looked really ill. And that I wasn't the only one from comments on MN at the time.

And of course he doesn't wear a mask. The normal rules and laws do not apply to Royals. They do basically what they want.

I am surprised he wasnt more careful before meeting her.

Poor sod, he's already had it once. Hopefully it won't be too bad second time around but it means he is restricted regarding going out and mixing with people. Not for long though.

Doidontimmm · 10/02/2022 16:35

He was around about 80 people on Tuesday giving out OBEs (I know one of them) - unmasked!

notanotheroneagain · 10/02/2022 17:08

Hahaha,
Here is a thought.................

The Queen is taking a bit of an understandable backseat at the moment. Charles is unwell.
William is away.

I wonder if Andrew will step in Grin

Monopolyiscrap · 10/02/2022 17:12

Well legally he could.

OP posts:
FlowerTink · 10/02/2022 17:21

He was at an event last night too. I hope the Queen is ok, I've been reading he saw her this week.

Chilledchablis1 · 10/02/2022 17:23

No, it would be Harry but if he declined it would be Andrew .
This is why the whole business of Counsellors of State needs to be considered promptly .

notanotheroneagain · 10/02/2022 17:31

Harry is also not in the country.

I was saying in case of an extreme emergency, where PC and PW are away and cannot deal with the issue online (zoom etc.) and a snap decision needs to be made. (highly unlikely ofcourse).

FourChimneys · 10/02/2022 17:38

He will get better care than most people, I am sure. Hope he hasn't passed it onto his mum though.

Incidentally, and in the best of taste, what happens to the special bank holiday in June if the Queen is absent, for want of a better euphemism? We've booked a holiday, not willing to change that for anything.

Cookerhood · 10/02/2022 17:51

I think we would still get it as some kind of "remembrance" or "celebration" or whatever. Plenty of people will have planned around it & they must have considered the options given her age.
