Jubilee Bank Holiday

What would happen to the extra bank holiday for the Jubilee if the Queen unfortunately died before then? I hope she doesn't but at her age it's a possibility.

We’d get a bank holiday anyway for her funeral. Not sure if the jubilee one would be cancelled or not, I guess it would.

I wondered this. I don't think they could cancel the jubilee one, too many people will have stuff planned, businesses will already have plans in place for it all.

I suppose it might be converted into a memorial day. There must be contingency plans sitting on a desk somewhere.

I don’t think they would cancel it, like pp said, so many people have made plans for the lovely long weekend.
I think they’ll keep it and have it as some sort of celebration/memorial of her life. Then if she does pass away this year, I think they’ll have the funeral at a weekend and not announce another bank holiday as it would be too damaging to businesses. A funeral bank holiday probably wouldn’t be great for the economy, but a summer celebration day is bound to be. I just hope it’s good weather this time.
