'to protect the Queen's dignity,' apparently..

Why the secrecy do you think?

her dignity? so he left her nothing

thenightsky · 16/09/2021 21:48

Prince Phillip's what?

PotteringAlong · 16/09/2021 21:48

I think all royal wills are sealed. It’s not special or specific to Prince Philip. It’s just what happens.

thenightsky · 16/09/2021 21:48

Oh, ignore me, I mis-read the title Grin

thetigerthatcamefortea · 16/09/2021 21:49

Illegitimate children?

StarryStarrySocks · 16/09/2021 21:49

Perhaps he left fortunes to his lady friends and/or illegitimate children.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 16/09/2021 21:49

My (completely uninformed) guess is either he has cut H&M out or has left something significant to Penny (was that her name?)

EnjoyingTheSilence · 16/09/2021 21:49

Inheritance to his other children?

MissAmbrosia · 16/09/2021 21:50

Did he have much of his own? It's a bit sad really. Anyway, not really anyone else's business.

gogohm · 16/09/2021 21:50

All royal wills are sealed for a set number of years. No conspiracy I'm afraid

It's standard in the royal family I think. There won't be anything particularly interesting or scandalous in his will, it's just the public don't need to know how much he left to Cats Protection.

But why should it? Like why should a royal be able to hide behind protection officers to avoid a court case. I'd acquiesce to allow it to be closed until the Queen died but 90 years? Long live the revolution

Are they? I'm sure I've read that Harry inherited a lot from the Queen Mother.

If it's like the Queen Mother's will the place will announce the main details but the personal stuff will remain private.

Or possibly the worse offender he has cut off Andrew because he knew the truth and given his share to maybe Archie .Hmm
SunShinesBrightly · 16/09/2021 22:13

I’m going to guess that it will remain private because either he had an obscene amount of money/assets and revealing the true amount he had in investments will annoy a lot of people. OR, he had absolutely nothing. Everything belongs to the Queen.

Northernlurker · 16/09/2021 22:16

It's totally standard. We don't get to nose in to how the groom got a thousand quid and he left his pony to lady Louise. It's private.

TheLeadbetterLife · 16/09/2021 22:18

Amazing that people still swallow the line that they are public servants. Are they bollocks.

2bazookas · 16/09/2021 22:19

Nothing unusual. That is established protocol for Royal wills; google it.

Pixxie7 · 16/09/2021 22:20

Normal practice with the RF, the queen’s mother and Diana was the same.

Well of course. We plebs have to have our wills made public, but they can hide theirs until almost everyone alive today is dead.

Then it’ll be an interesting curio, like opening a time capsule, rather than the spark of a revolutionary war.

What an idiotic nation we are.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 16/09/2021 22:31

Or maybe he didn't cut Andrew out Preparation..

pastabest · 16/09/2021 22:31

I assume we plebs can also apply to the court (as the royal family do in these situations) for it to be kept private if we feel our wills are interesting enough to the wider public to do so.

I bet his will is as boring as horseshit anyway, this is just a distraction from other stuff.

But why the fuck should we allow it?
