This according to guess who. The DM of course. To avoid getting papers served says the article. Maybe he's just gone for a nice break. Accompanied by Fergie.

So... fuel shortages at the pumps means that PA and the Queen awarding him for service or whatever can't be discussed?

Didn't know that Grin

Viviennemary · 27/09/2021 19:49

Please feel free to start a thread on what they are talking about in the George and Duck. There are threads on the fuel shortages though.

I've never heard anyone discuss PA in my hearing. They simply don't care. The PA scandal is important but not something that comes up in everyday conversation. Mention Boris J, Brexit or Covid and it's a different matter. You can't make people care about things they don't care about.
Roussette · 27/09/2021 19:58

I don't understand.

People on this thread care about it so why post saying you and everyone you know doesn't care about it?

Seems a bit pointless to me.

Like me going on the Tack Room and saying I don't think horses are important.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 27/09/2021 19:58

Andy's not griping. Probably gets his fuel shipped by special consignment straight from the refinery from mates in several oil producing monarchies.

I care about it. Obviously because I'm on this thread. However I think social media is in its own little world. The peasants aren't going to turn up at Royal lodge with their tumbril to take Andrew to the guillotine. However much people on here want that to happen.
Serenster · 27/09/2021 20:04

@Roussette

Serenster I am not talking well deserved medals for servicemen and women

I'm talking about the likes of Q awarding PA a huge important medal AFTER the Epstein scandal broke.
Give me a break

I wouldn’t exactly call the Royal Victorian order a “huge important medal”. It’s one of the gongs that the monarch can give out, entirely at her own discretion, to thank people who have personally served her. It tends to be given to family members (so all the Queen’s cousins have it, for example plus all her children too and most of her sons and daughters in law - Prince Harry has also been made a member of this order.), long-serving staff members (typically it’s used to award the title of “Sir” to her Private Secretaries and senior diplomats). Andrew actually was a member of the order, he just got promoted up a grade in 2011.

As the link you posted makes clear, “The move was first announced on February 21, 2011, a day after the scandal of Andrew's relationship with Epstein emerged”.

The entry in the London Gazette where it was announced was indeed on 21 February, which was a Monday, but as the announcement made clear, it had actually already been conferred on Friday 19 2011 - so before the scandal broke. Unfortunate timing in hindsight, obviously, but as none of us could see the future I suspect no-one at the time had any idea how this story would develop.

I don't want that to happen. I want justice in whatever form that takes.

Not sure Serenster what your point is. Awarding PA for anything whilst he is under investigation is crass. In my book.

And if I remember rightly the Queen was 'concerned' about his relationship with JE before that.
That didn't mean much did it. 'Concern'.

Roussette · 27/09/2021 20:12

You cannot tell me that security personnel and aides wouldn't have known what was going on. Naive to think that.

Serenster · 27/09/2021 20:12

You said “I'm talking about the likes of Q awarding PA a huge important medal AFTER the Epstein scandal broke”

Actually she awarded it BEFORE the Epstein scandal broke.

Serenster · 27/09/2021 20:13

You were chiding people earlier for making assumptions about what Meghan and Harry think yet here you ate merrily doing it yourself when it suits….Hmm

derxa · 27/09/2021 20:18

You cannot tell me that security personnel and aides wouldn't have known what was going on. Naive to think that. Now that's what I'd like to know. The staff know everything. What are the rules about them testifying?

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 27/09/2021 20:23

I have an e-tumbril. Borrowed a pitchfork. Fingers crossed for a vacant charging point at Tebay services.

Roussette · 27/09/2021 20:25

Nope.

Many reports on this.

Here's just one.

See above.

Here's another one if you like

Sorry. Nasty DM.

Roussette · 27/09/2021 20:26

I chide people who talk as if they know what Harry and Meghan think and want.

They don't.

They make assumptions. Of the worst kind of course.

It must be an English thing. We have plenty of fuel in Scotland.
oneglassandpuzzled · 27/09/2021 20:28

@Dreamstate

"The Treasury is planning to supplement the Sovereign Grant after the monarch’s land and property investments took a hit as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Elizabeth I’s income is drawn from a 25% share in the profits generated by the Crown Estate, which has announced losses amid the health crisis.

Her share of the Crown Estate profits in 2021-22 is expected to increase by 0.4% to £86.3million – a rise of £350,000 – because overall profits increased by 0.4% in 2019-20"

So whilst ordinary people losing jobs, businesses etc. we ended up bailing her out because crown estates profits dropped and they wanted to ensure she still got the same amount as profit from previous yrs.

How anyone can stomach that and think that's acceptable is beyond me.

£86m a year!!!@ how much does one family need. Its outrageous.

If Elizabeth I is still taking Crown money there’s more going on than we could ever have imagined.
ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 27/09/2021 20:29

Cool, Andy won't be needing his Saudi mates then. But I'll still take the tumbril, save the planet etc.

derxa · 27/09/2021 20:33

If Elizabeth I is still taking Crown money there’s more going on than we could ever have imagined. Who knows. The poster may be a Scot who refuses to acknowledge that our present Queen is Elizabeth II. I know I find it a bit iffy.

Serenster · 27/09/2021 20:37

Did you not read the London Gazette link @Rousette? I’ve attached it now. It clearly states that the awarding of the promotion in the Royal Victorian order is “to be dated 19 February 2011”. So it had already been awarded by the time the notice was published

The Prince Andrew story was absolutely definitely broken by the News of the World on Sunday 20 February. Here’s a link to a Guardian article of that day essentially congratulating them on the scoop:

www.theguardian.com/media/greenslade/2011/feb/20/newsoftheworld-prince-andrew

Newsweek journalists and other journalists almost certainly don’t bother reading the actual announcement (and the truth wouldn’t fit their, or your angle nearly so well, of course), but the chronology is perfectly clear.

Prince Andrew has bolted to Balmoral
Roussette · 27/09/2021 20:45

I have no idea what you mean.

Knight of the Grand Cross awarded 19 February 2011 according to you.

Epstein convicted 2008 for the first time.

And the Queen talked of her 'concern' in 2010.

Roussette · 27/09/2021 20:47

Here's a timeline for you.

Roussette · 27/09/2021 20:50

Oh hang on... I've got it. His first conviction for sex procuring of minors wasn't enough! And the 'sweetheart deal' giving him a break meant he wasn't that guilty... not really Hmm

You are talking of his second and many convictions?

Viviennemary · 27/09/2021 20:56

Yes. Strictly speaking I suppose she should be Elizabeth I. Never thought about it before.
