This according to guess who. The DM of course. To avoid getting papers served says the article. Maybe he's just gone for a nice break. Accompanied by Fergie.

It's brainwashing.

Just wait till Q dies, it'll be wall to wall RF programmes forever.

Plumtree391 · 23/09/2021 06:32

It was a tribute to the Duke for his birthday, he would have been 100 last month; most of it was recorded well in advance, while he was still alive, and they hoped he would watch it. It was edited after his death, Prince Charles's bit and that of the lady who worked for him, added.

I must admit I quite enjoyed the programme, hearing them all talking about their father/grandfather. Princess Anne spoke beautifully about him and Lady Louise is a real sweetie.

The Queen will, I'm sure, have found the programme very touching and appreciated it.

upinaballoon · 23/09/2021 08:01

The BBC kept on putting a trailer out about it because they wanted to promote their programme, and they'd already done a lot of the stuff ready for his possible 100th. ITV kept on showing the trailer of the Oprah interview for exactly the same reasons, they wanted viewers.

I laugh at this twaddle about minions (another thread) and servants. Do you think someone who works for the Royal Family didn't choose to apply for a job with them, knowing full well that he/she would be a servant and that the money wouldn't be high, but there would be interest and probably a reference and a prestige for moving to another job afterwards.
My black friend employs a white gardener, who is therefore a minion/servant. Have you ever eaten in a restaurant or been to a loo in a pub or a restaurant or a public WC? Well the person who served you or cleaned that loo has been, indirectly, your servant. I hope you didn't leave a drip on the seat or a bit of cac on the lavatory bowl for an 18 year old to clean when you'd departed.
Did the Palace tell the BBC when to put the programme out or did the BBC make that decision?

If people didn't think there was a need for the programme they didn't have to watch it. Other channels are available. But then, they wouldn't have something to smallmindedly bitch about all day long, would they?

I didn't.

And I'm not bitching about it.

SpindleWorld · 23/09/2021 08:06

I love being scolded in the early morning light.

This is a rather unpleasant post, something about 'cac' (poo) on restaurant loo seats and posters 'small-mindedly bitching'. Very goady and misogynistic. Yuck.
SpindleWorld · 23/09/2021 08:10

Anyway, what's Andrew up to now? Still playing hide and seek, or has he finally acknowledged he's been served?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/09/2021 09:38

I expect that's the sort of thing we'll never know, but it wouldn't be the first time the media have sat on something for a while and traded their silence on one thing for stories about something else

And the BBC, through their "tax" funded status, are very much part of the establishment, however much they pretend to be independent

Roussette · 23/09/2021 09:48

Yes that was a pretty revolting post.

Back to PA... there is a big connection with JE and Paris, with many french victims of JE, and news reports this morning say there is a whistleblower who has spoken to the french police... he says PA was a regular visitor to JE's property in Paris.

The caretaker of the property has said that he regularly saw PA at the property both when JE was in residence, and when he wasn't, and this man has been caretaker since JE purchased the property in 2000.

What makes me sick to the stomach is ... two 12 year old girls were recruited in Paris, allegedly, along with other young victims.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 23/09/2021 09:50

Very true, Puzzled. The BBC's official response to complaints about their post-PP funeral brainwashing of the population: “We acknowledge some viewers were unhappy with the level of coverage given, and impact this had on the billed TV and Radio schedules,” the BBC said in a statement. "We do not make such changes without careful consideration and the decisions made reflect the role the BBC plays as the national broadcaster, during moments of national significance. We are grateful for all feedback, and we always listen to the response from our audiences.”

OK BBC, are your bots listening? A single 5-minute news bulletin on the day she dies will be absolutely fine. Cheers.

SpindleWorld · 23/09/2021 09:52

I haven't seen the Pip programme yet, but dear lord the Mail are all over it.

But what's this? 'Lady Louise ... leads The Firm [Royal Family] in paying tribute to Duke of Edinburgh '.

Ah ha - here we see the tabloids' infamous 'leads the ...' tactic, designed to rub someone else's nose in it, with photos and caption. 'Colleen Rooney leads the WAGS', showing her with another well-known footballer's partner. Or 'Carol Vorderman leads the celebrities', showing Amanda Holden next to her. Etc. They pick out one celeb to outshine the others, because they can.

It's a little power game the Mail likes to play. Who can they piss off and show their muscles to today?

Or did the Palace ask the Mail to big her up?

Coronateachingagain · 23/09/2021 10:05

"If people didn't think there was a need for the programme they didn't have to watch it. Other channels are available. But then, they wouldn't have something to smallmindedly bitch about all day long, would they?"

Except they spend our (including mine) tax money unnecessarily on this. So yes, I pay the TV tax every year, plus a lot more in taxes and feel I have a say on it, together with the rest of us, whether we agree or not.

Coronateachingagain · 23/09/2021 10:07

If PA was going to Paris too, they will find him sooner or later. He deserves a fair trial and to tell his own story, but if evidence shows, he should go down with it like anybody else would.

SpindleWorld · 23/09/2021 10:12

I presume Gislaine Maxwell knows about the Paris visits? She may well have details. Are the Paris crimes part the current case against her in the US?

The Mail’s whole agenda seems to be to pull people down or sneer at them .It’s a disgusting rag.
SpindleWorld · 23/09/2021 10:57

The Mail Online is especially grim.

I look at it though (with a critical eye) because I'm interested in the media and the Mail is a huge influencer. Some of its journalists are good, though, with some interesting investigative articles. Not exactly The Observer, but not the Express either.

I read a lot of news websites, left, centre and right.

There's also a lot of crap in most of them, often about the RF.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/09/2021 10:57

I also feel that since I'm compelled to pay for the BBC I can have an opinion on what it broadcasts and whether I think they have an agenda outside of Impartial public information/service.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/09/2021 11:00

There's a good Jenni Murray piece in the mail this morning

Plumtree391 · 23/09/2021 11:06

I thought it was a very interesting programme. I watched it later on iplayer.

The Duke of course didn't live to see it but I expect the Queen enjoyed it.

SnottyLottie · 23/09/2021 11:43

The worst thing is if you go into that Mail article’s comments section you will see a lot of comments being critical about Louise’s appearance. She is a 17 year old girl and these are fully grown adults tearing apart a teenager’s appearance just because they can and they are safe in their anonymity. I honestly hate that paper and it’s comment section. At least mumsnet is moderated for all its faults.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 23/09/2021 11:45

Yes, the comments section is appalling.

Viviennemary · 23/09/2021 11:47

Grin @ the BBC being independent. At least the DM doesn't pretend to be what it isn't.

Yes the peasants will be brainwashed while you the superior one sees through it all.
Roussette · 24/09/2021 07:26

So, Andrew is still in hiding at Balmoral and hasn't seen his new granddaughter yet

Does anyone know why he has to stay up there, given papers have been served?

Will he stay up there until the next Hearing on 13th October I wonder....

CathyorClaire · 24/09/2021 11:26

That's exactly what I've been wondering, Roussette.

No doubt Mummy is happy to still have her little soldier's company up there but the missing out on a new grandchild seems decidedly odd and would on the face of it seem to serve no purpose now the papers have been served Confused
