It's irritating how the comparison doesn't even work, even if it didn't sound so ridiculous - Ariel got her voice back BEFORE marriage and kept it, she didn't lose it after marrying a prince. And she involved her father in her choices (ok, paternalistic but no mum to be fair!), doesn't sound like MM!

It definitely didn't just "come on TV" either did it. She most definitely put it on intently.

Ariel lost her voice, prince abandoned her and she died alone on a beach, desperate yet unable to go home.
