The Duck Test

The Charity Commission is reviewing Prince Harry and Meghan's Sussex Royal Organisation.

Let's see what they conclude and if they find out if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck.

Archewell take notice. Grin

I read about that earlier. H&M’s lawyers must be making a fortune. Grin

Coronateachingagain · 05/03/2021 22:48

Yep. The ones whose prospects of fortune are diminishing are the Sussexes' themselves. Business model gone wrong I wonder

That's behind a pay wall

I can see what the message is.

If you wanna be 100% independent, go and work for Walmart or Target at the front line like ANYONE ELSE. You are not special. No Foundation or Royal connections go with it hence no free lunch (aka no luxury life in the name of "service")

If you wanna make money off who you were born into and live a "life or service", then I will bank you, but you play team Royal and Country.

He. Wonder if MM went into this with her eyes open. I mean, she did, but completely misjudged the whole thing and what is at stake.

I don't think she really had any understanding of what the UK monarchy is, what it's history is, what it's ethos and modus operandi is....

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 23/03/2021 13:31

It might not be a duck though. It could be a rabbit.

Reality is often ambiguous. How it is perceived and interpreted is influenced by cultural bias and personal experience.

If the Charity Commission did find something untoward whilst looking into Sussex Royal, that might provide some objective facts in the curious case of Harry and Meghan. But most of the ‘evidence’ available thus far can be spun according to the predilections of the observer.

'I’m sure there were many people reaching for the chuck bucket over this Oprah Winfrey interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.'

'The Meghan Markle way, you see. Condemn everyone. Name no one.'

Sky News Australia presenter

Duck!

'It was really hard to watch. They were talking like ex-cult members that had somehow fled and made it out.'

The View panellist on H&M in the Oprah interview

'…weaponisation of white fragility against a woman of colour.'

Another panellist from the View on weddingtears-gate.

Rabbit!

And if you are able to switch from one viewpoint to the other and are befuddled by the whole business - don’t worry. It shows a flexibility of mind and an ability to appreciate nuance.

Coronateachingagain · 23/03/2021 13:44

well @OutwiththeOutCrowd not that they wanted you to know the nuance facts! THE truth not their truth.

If calling someone in the RF a racist, oh no dont want to name them. Very comfortable position to be. These people will never call a spade a spade, if it does not suit them.

But make no mistake, time will tell eventually!

In the meantime, off to earn their millions to maintain their lifestyle - whatever it takes and whoever they bring down. Just think only of their children who they will need to explain all this mess to.

Just think only of their children who they will need to explain all this mess to.

What, that mummy and daddy left a toxic, abusive, racist family who were literally selling stories to the tabloids and bullied a pregnant woman to suicide, but it's okay because they escaped and built a fairytale life in California and made millions of dollars?

Wow, I wish my life was that much of a mess.

I wonder how William and Kate will explain to their children that the reason they can't see their cousins is because the Firm bullied them away, the reason they grew up denied any privacy is because their use as human props is more important than their well-being, and oh btw Charlotte take a good long look at Uncle Harry because the second you turn 16 the Firm will throw you under a bus and start leaking nasty stories to tabloids about you to protect your big brother.

Pretty clear which family will have to explain a mess...

Nishky · 27/03/2021 09:20

Yeah but Mummy and Daddy initially wanted to be half in and half out with that toxic abusive family because the money was so damn useful.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/03/2021 07:40

Wanting to be half in half out makes you wander how toxic and abusive that family is.

We only have Meghan’s word for a lot of things. Including the state of her mental health. This can neither be proved nor disproved. And we know she has obfuscated the truth on a number of points. As did Harry.

Considering how easy it was to study Diana’s infamous interview with Martin Bashir, I have not truck with the argument that the Meghan’s account was eerily similar.

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/03/2021 07:40

*wonder

H&M defenders are really from another planet aren't they?

Langsdestiny · 28/03/2021 21:20

To be fair other members of the royal family will have had much more difficult conversations with their children. Shock

But they wouldn’t have left if they’d been allowed to stay doing what they wanted instead of having to do the whole role of a senior royal...
Coronateachingagain · 29/03/2021 22:42

How does that work? You "stay" but you don't have to do the "whole role of a senior royal". To want your cake and eat it?

Anyways they have burnt their bridges, they are long gone and are now concentrated on keeping with the Joneses in America. As someone said, the whole PR strategy is backfiring and going back to a secondary star/TV career image instead of the Clooney-Gates image combo they were hoping for.

Good luck to them. No chance of getting another chance here in the UK for a good while.
