I think calling any royal hard working at the moment is a joke.
Even in normal times they don't do that much.
I often think that people who say this kind of thing have never had a role where you have to meet people, say the right things, remember the right things, and "be on" all the time. I have been in that role, and also worked for someone very senior who had that role for the company we worked for (as senior royals are often representing the government as well as the charities etc). Doing the job properly, by which I mean being on top of the reason for the visit, the history of the organisation, the bios of the people you will be meeting and the key messages you are expected to communicate is hard work. I mean, it's not brain surgery, but it's also not sitting at your computer chatting with your mates in between coffee breaks. And what we see in public is clearly only a fraction of what goes into their roles.
