Starting this thread while I digest the last few posts on the previous thread. I think the H&M saga could be as unsettling for the RF as the Charles & Diana bad publicity in the 1990s, if not worse.

I tend to agree but I don’t think Harry seems very happy with the way things things are going @Roussette

I think Meghan has nudged him down this rather adversarial path with family feuds and court cases & he can’t get off.

mrscampbellblackagain · 04/07/2020 19:47

Anyway, I think for most of us this is a bit of a gossipy diversion. I mean personally I hope the RF is massively slimmed down and becomes self funding once the Queen passes. I think it would be best for everyone including William and Catherine and their children.

mrscampbellblackagain · 04/07/2020 19:48

@Roussette I think the car crash thing is what keeps us all watching and commenting Wink

Personally, I hope they all end up happy apart from Andrew obvs.

Cartesiandebt · 04/07/2020 19:48

Yes a RF along the lines of the Dutch or Danish would be more appropriate

Serenster · 04/07/2020 19:57

So, the judge in the lawsuit's wife, who is very well-accomplished in her own right, was quoted in a DM story once, in her capacity as spokesperson for her employer, but I can't see anything more than that. There presumably must have been more alleged?

Mummy195 · 04/07/2020 19:57

so tell me @Blossom513

Have you ever been bemused or asked the ppl that constantly bring out a slew of criticism on H&M. Did you ask about their blind devotion to criticising this one woman? Because I have not seen you do that.

I will tell you that I am sick and tired of watching a platform that is supposed to help and encourage women having so much negativity piled on one couple.

Cartesiandebt · 04/07/2020 20:02

H&M invite discussion with their endless press leaks, frivolous litigations and PR activity.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 04/07/2020 20:08

@My0My

In Meghan short stay in the uk she still managed to get rid of 6 members of staff and upset nearly everyone at one point or another. Fact.

Her complaints about RF staff not protecting her won’t be taken lightly and it makes her return here to do anything much more difficult. She acts very entitled and obviously expects everyone to jump at the slightest thing she says.

Her fashion sense isn’t great. Occasionally it’s brilliant. She badly needed advice on well fitted shoes and coats. There’s little she’s ever worn that’s been a wow outfit.

I am no Meghan fan at all by any stretch, but one thing she did bring to the royal family is style, and in my opinion lots of wow outfits, and she pretty much had fabulous shoes. I do agree however that some looked ill fitting and she should have used a seamstress, despite being very slender her waist is quite high which is why I think the belted coat look she favoured never quite worked. On the fashion front I think she is a big loss and the royal style and beauty threads are poorer without her.
myrtleWilson · 04/07/2020 20:09

I agree Mummy - imagine how it must feel to be a woman and possibly reading about your self on this website in such damaging terms.

Mummy195 · 04/07/2020 20:09

I think like everyone else, they have a right to defend themselves.

There, you are doing it again, like most of this thread, defamation. Who has ever come out and said MM has asked them to leak stories. This is your presumption. H&M have a spokesperson who sends out a press release on certain issues or questions that need to be answered. Usually the press will then say, 'their spokesperson said this'. The same with the rest of the RF. So you are making this up.

It's like me saying anytime a puff piece is printed on other royals, they leaked the story.

Thanks @thisenglishlife that was interesting reading.

HarryDaylight · 04/07/2020 20:23

At least you now know what defamation means, Mummy195, I notice that you had your earlier posts removed. Very wise.

Mummy195 · 04/07/2020 20:26

I don't recall ever asking what it means or not knowing.

But I do notice that it's de regle on this thread.

Serenster · 04/07/2020 20:29

Mummy185, people speculating about, and discussing, stories in the public domain about public figures (no matter whether you personally have any faith in the source) is not "defamation". And I don't think it's that surprising that there's a lot of interest in the fast-paced romance, wedding, baby and departure of a popular senior member of the Royal family and the beautiful, accomplished Hollywood actress. It has been a rollercoaster from day 1, for reasons both good and bad.

You seem to be very personally invested in the discussion about them, irrespective of the actual factual background. With the best will in the world, surely you can see that the couple have done some things that open them up to criticism from even the most fair-minded observer?

Thisbastardcomputer · 04/07/2020 20:29

Place marking

Blossom513 · 04/07/2020 20:30

Have you ever been bemused or asked the ppl that constantly bring out a slew of criticism on H&M. Did you ask about their blind devotion to criticising this one woman? Because I have not seen you do that.

No I haven't, because I haven't seen any of the regular posters solely criticise MM repeatedly. Most posters are often very balanced in their views. I can't comment on less frequent posters as I don't remember if or what they've posted before, so I wouldn't accuse them of constantly criticising.

You obviously see differently though. So who are the people that constantly bring out a slew of criticism? And by that I presume you mean they only ever criticise, and never say anything positive or constructive about them.

Blossom513 · 04/07/2020 20:32

If that band was NKOTB then it’d clearly be because there wasn’t anything negative that was true about them!

Grin no, Take That!

NKOTB were a tiny bit before my time Grin

MissEliza · 04/07/2020 20:32

@Puzzledandpissedoff I realised as I wrote that post that TM would not have been a good speaker. I do find it very sad that someone feels embarrassed by their parents, even if they have good reason.

Sittingontheveranda · 04/07/2020 20:38

Most posters are often very balanced in their views.

🤣🤣🤣

SunbathingDragon · 04/07/2020 20:48

@ButteryPuffin

Sorry Mummy are you saying the judge appointed to hear the case is biased and will give a corrupt verdict on that basis?

Rousette they said they wanted to be financially independent and earn their own money. They haven't earned any yet as far as I can see - Meghan did the elephant voice over for charity and Harry isn't earning. So what else can they be living on but money from others? They aren't 'stony broke' in a sense any of us would recognise but they're not independent earners yet either.

I’m assuming they currently have the sense to be predominantly staying safely indoors and limiting any expose to coronavirus. I’ve always questioned them having the means and ability to earn what they will need to live the lifestyle they wish. Speeches will only earn so much and if there had been lots of interest in them giving speeches before the pandemic, that will now be drastically reduced. Harry’s only experience of working is in the army, which would never pay enough and if Meghan was a good enough actress to earn a multimillion pound/dollar salary for movies then she would have been doing so long ago. I know there have been comments about saying Harry and Meghan are middle aged but they really are in or approaching that age bracket now and Hollywood is not a sympathetic place for a woman in her late 30s who was a mega star when she was younger, let alone a barely known actress in a Canadian show.

It will be interesting to see how they do make their money and if they are able to be financially successful and independent. Let’s be honest, if it was going to be difficult for them when they announced their intention to quit, it will be so much more so now that we are in a pandemic and looking at living with coronavirus for the foreseeable future.

Blossom513 · 04/07/2020 20:48

Shame you can't see it Veranda, and only see the negative. Bit ironic really. 🤣

Cartesiandebt · 04/07/2020 20:49

I’m struggling to see much to defend in Meghan and Harrys behaviour. I find their sense of entitlement breathtaking.

Someone upthread made a sneery comment about frugal Kate - but the reality is that Kate and William behave in a less grand way, despite being direct heirs to the throne.

Kate & William lived in a pretty modest 4 bedroom farmhouse in Anglesey for three years, even after George was born. The rent on that house was £750 a month. Meghan and Harry seem to think that anything below billionaire style accommodation is beneath them.

thisenglishlife · 04/07/2020 20:53

If the plan is speeches, voiceovers production, making documentaries, etc (as speculated recently)... that would allow work at an 'older' age.

CathyorClaire · 04/07/2020 21:05

@YgritteSnow

Re the tiaras. From what I understand Meghan wanted the Vladimir tiara. Eugenie wore a different tiara.

I wonder why she wasn't allowed it? I see Camilla and Kate have been allowed to wear it. I must admit to a real fascination with the royal tiaras now. I hadn't realised there were so many and the history that is behind each one.

IIRC she wasn't allowed it due to it having a possibly dodgy provenance.

Something to do with Russia but I've never been interested enough in royal bling to discover what.
