I think our national anthem requires a rethink. Calling on a deity I don’t believe exists, to save the life of a hereditary hofs is not something that I care to do. I’m sure with all the wonderful composers we have in this country, we could have a new more uplifting song, rather than the current dirge.

Back to topic, Sophie seems to be a woman with her head screwed on. I hope this is true.

MissEliza · 08/06/2020 11:18

There was an article on Sophie today in the newspaper. She says they're bringing up their dcs with the expectation they will have to work for a living. I hope the media will give them the space and privacy to find their path in life.

WinnieTheW0rm · 08/06/2020 11:23

It only seems like 5 minutes ago that she was top of the tabloid hate list; even to the extent of a deliberate set up fake sheikh, the fallout of which was described at the time as catastrophic for the royal family

Allflightscancelled · 08/06/2020 11:42

The press always love to call things a 'catastrophe' Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/06/2020 13:01

I hope the media will give them the space and privacy to find their path in life

I hope so too, but a lot of that may hang on their parents' prominence, and with H&M's departure meaning more work for the rest it may not be easy

Allflightscancelled · 08/06/2020 14:22

Sorry, I know this is a Sophie thread so I'll stop droning on about Andrew, but have you seen the news items about the US 'demanding' to question Andrew? I'm absolutely the opposite of an apologist for Andrew and I'd like to see him held accountable for his relationship with Epstein,, but I also hope we refuse to cooperate, until they send back that Anne Sicoulis (sp????) woman who killed that poor young guy in a road accident.

ajandjjmum · 08/06/2020 14:26

Agree - let's do an exchange.

I thought something was coming along the line with Andrew, when it was announced last week that he had retired, and wouldn't be coming back to public life ever.

Notmyrealname855 · 08/06/2020 14:29

Shamefully placemarking and not adding much other than Sophie really WAS on the naughty list, there was chat about them being banished for what she’d done. Can’t believe it’s the same woman! Really like her and so shallow but also love her fashion now.

PA should just give up, what a waste of space and if he has nothing to hide then answer their questions... and I feel terrible for the family of that boy, the Government should do a deal so everyone can have justice.

Allflightscancelled · 08/06/2020 14:37

Oh true ajandjjmum, well spotted

Sophie did royally screw up! However she swallowed her punishment and ate humble pie. I recall she wrote letters of apology to those she offended. I totally respect people who are willing to admit their mistakes. The British public are also pretty forgiving. Who'd have thought in the mid 90s that Camilla would be a respected member of the RF? As a result, I believe H&M would be welcomed back by the public but they aren't capable of the humility and modesty it requires.

Oldbutstillgotit · 09/06/2020 08:39

The newspaper article referred to previously also said that both she had a long courtship so was able to get used to Royal life . Same as Catherine.
She also said that she tried to help new people join the family.

Viviennemary · 09/06/2020 09:28

I agree that the public are quite forgiving. Prince Andrew is a whole different story though and this is why he has been retired permanently. But Sophie Wessex got caught out in that fake sheik scam.. Got told it's either withdraw from Royal duties and carry on with your business or give up your business and toe the royal line. No ifs or buts.

LadyEloise · 08/07/2020 10:40

Can anyone tell me please was Sophie's mother born in Ireland or were any of her grandparents on her mother's side. Her mother has a very Irish surname.

StressedMom4 · 20/08/2020 22:52

I really like Sophie, I hope we get to see her and Prince Edward doing more royal duties. Bring on the new FabFour!

Icantreachthepretzels · 21/08/2020 18:42

Can anyone tell me please was Sophie's mother born in Ireland or were any of her grandparents on her mother's side. Her mother has a very Irish surname.

according to this Mary O'Sullivan was of 'Irish descent' but there is no information as to how recent or distant that descent is.
