A continuation of the thread discussing the Cambridges' contribution to the pandemic.

Wolfgirrl - No, the whole point of the lockdown is to stop the spread, so I would imagine that's why William and Kate are staying home, because too much security involved.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 15:32

@mamamia456

So you disapprove of sophie wessex, and the million NHS volunteers? For volunteering to go out and help, and therefore potentially spreading the virus?

Clavinova · 26/04/2020 15:39

What does she know about security leadership?

Perhaps evolved from her involvement here;

The UCL Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science -

"In April 1999 the broadcaster Jill Dando was murdered outside her home in west London. Her colleague Nick Ross proposed a memorial to her in the form of a new university institution in her name."

"He and Dando's fiancé, Alan Farthing, established the Jill Dando Fund with the help of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens, the Countess of Wessex"

I fucking doubt it. Like Kate and her child welfare “work”, it’s a bit of an insult to people who have actually studied this stuff to claim she’s anything other than a figurehead.

Mamamia456 · 26/04/2020 15:45

Wolfgirrl - Haha you do like to twist things. This is just my own personal opinion on why I think Kate and William have been advised to stay home. With the Queen and Prince Charles at high risk they won't risk William catching it. Plus too much security involved, I would imagine they would want William to have as little contact as possible with other people.

It has nothing to do with what other people who volunteer are doing.

Clavinova · 26/04/2020 15:50

BurneyFanny

You won't be joining the "Countess of Wessex Appreciation Society" then? Grin

Yes - it does exist.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 15:54

@mamamia456

William is in his 30s and presumably healthy given his passing of flying and military checks. The risk to him even if he caught covid are minimal. Probably much less than flying a helicopter about for 2 years. His own father more than 30 years his senior came through it with no complications.

How do you square that one?

As for his security, I doubt he would need much more than Sophie Wessex. Why would this be riskier than a public walkabout? He would be confined to a kitchen with only other staff members around him.

Mamamia456 · 26/04/2020 16:02

Wolfgirrl - Nobody knows how the coronavirus will affect someone. Just because Prince Charles only had mild symptoms doesn't mean that William would. People with no underlying conditions are dying. They won't take that risk with William. Well that's my view anyway.

I thought Sophie was delivering meals, that's what I read anyway.

Clavinova · 26/04/2020 16:09

William's 'comedy sketch' with Stephen Fry was very good the other day - he came across very well I thought.

BurneyFanny · 26/04/2020 16:34

How many fully healthy people under forty have died of it? A tiny handful.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 17:01

@Clavinova 🤢🤢🤢

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 17:03

@Mamamia456

Yet they were happy for him to take the risk flying a helicopter for 2 years, apparently landing on cliff faces and other dodgy terrain? Yeah pull the other one. Surely even you can't believe what you're saying at this point.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 17:05

@BurneyFanny

Under 40s make up 0.2% of deaths and that is including people with pre existing medical conditions.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 17:07

Also including people with no 'conditions' but smoke, are overweight etc. The figure for completely healthy and fit individuals must be tiny.

@clavinova

Did you read the article? Of course a royal expert is going to say the public love them. If the public were indifferent the royal experts would be out of a job.

Clavinova · 26/04/2020 18:11

Did you read the article?

Of course - I thought it would cheer you up. Grin

Mamamia456 · 26/04/2020 18:20

Wolfgirrl - They would have taken direction from royal advisors. Why would I not believe what I am saying, it is my opinion. What a strange thing to say.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 18:26

@mamamia456

What kind of an advisor would allow 2 years of dangerous helicopter flying but wouldn't allow Wills to do a few days a week in a controlled environment with PPE on, for a risk of much less than 0.2%?

LaurieMarlow · 26/04/2020 18:29

The barrel scraping on here to paint Wills as not a lazy arse is quite something Grin

Mamamia456 · 26/04/2020 19:20

Wolfgirrl - Why don't you write to Amber Hall if it bothers you that much. You clearly have a dislike for William and Kate.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 19:30

@mamamia456

Didnt answer my question as usual.

Wolfgirrl · 26/04/2020 19:36

@LaurieMarlow

I know 😂😂 and when all else fails, they reply 'you clearly dislike them'. Like that is a point. Lol

Mamamia456 · 26/04/2020 19:47

Wolfgirrl - I am just giving possible suggestions as to why Kate and William are self isolating. You think it's just because they are lazy, I don't. Given the amount of support they are getting at the moment, you're in the minority.
