The royal family

Shame on the RF

Snog · 05/04/2020 16:32

What right does the queen have to address the nation when the RF have been openly breaking the rules on Coronavirus regarding non essential travel, using second homes and not observing social distancing and isolation.

RF is an embarrassment, hoarding resources and setting a dreadful self entitled example to their "subjects".

Are you familiar with the concept of monarchy?

Alb1 · 05/04/2020 19:38

She has every right, she’s the queen. You have every right not to watch.

Wowthisisreal · 05/04/2020 20:55

Here we go 🙄

chrisseldah1 · 05/04/2020 21:20

I liked her speech a lot🏃‍♀️

Absolutepowercorrupts · 05/04/2020 21:26

Report her to 101, tell them she's not observing the rules. That'll learn her.
On the other hand you could join the other thread and slag her off to your heart's content.

LavenderQuartz · 05/04/2020 21:31

i liked her speech also

oh, and she has every right, she's queen so its up to her

Oh give over
They travelled before lockdown and travelling was not allowed
She’s the fucking queen if she wants to address the country for only the 5th time in 70 years (outside of Christmas Day messages) then fair play for some people she does mean something. To those not interested don’t bother watching

binkyblinky · 05/04/2020 21:42

Her speech was fantastic

WinterCat · 05/04/2020 21:46

She didn’t travel during lockdown though. In fact, her leaving London earlier than planned for Easter was quite a big giveaway of lockdown imminently happening.

It’s fine to use your second home as long as you were in it and stay in it during lockdown. What’s not acceptable is to travel between two homes during lockdown. Arguably Windsor Castle is the queen’s permanent residence and Buckingham Palace is her job.

CallmeAngelina · 05/04/2020 21:47

Oh do shut up!
Go away and live in a republic if you don't like it.

Cismyfatarse1 · 05/04/2020 21:48

Windsor Castle is her primary residence. The place she considers home.

PeacockPies · 05/04/2020 21:51

Who does she think she is? The queen of England?

Kinneddar · 05/04/2020 21:54

the RF have been openly breaking the rules on Coronavirus regarding non essential travel, using second homes and not observing social distancing and isolation

Can you give actual examples of this?
As pp said they travelled before the lockdown and have remained where they were since lockdown. They were social distancing at engagements Can you imagine the outcry if they returned to their main residences now?

I cant see

BlueJava · 05/04/2020 21:55

She's been in Windsor since before lockdown. I believe rgw Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Charles were also at their respective residences in time too. Thought her speech was excellent and well delivered.

I loved it and thought it was good to hear... if you don't like the Queen don't watch her!🤷‍♀️

fallfallfall · 05/04/2020 22:02

jealous much? i bet those with additional funds eat chocolate and make cake as well. the CONCEPT is to lay low, not interact unnecessarily with others and let the virus die. it's not to be miserable and live the next few months in a closet.

Nanalisa60 · 05/04/2020 22:05

Because she is the QUEEN!!
I thought that it was a brilliant speech
Nobody made you watch it!!

LavenderQuartz · 05/04/2020 22:05

well thats the op told!!!

WombleOfThigh · 05/04/2020 22:05

I bet HM can get a Waitrose delivery slot as well Angry

ssd · 05/04/2020 22:06

@PeacockPies

"Who does she think she is? The queen of England?"

Its funny how she's so often referred to as the Queen of England. The UK has a bit more than England in it, last time I looked.

Iris243 · 05/04/2020 22:07

Loved the speech and I think very highly of the Queen.

For me it made my bad day a little brighter, to be honest.

No need to be so negative.

StylishMummy · 05/04/2020 22:08

I think the queen & the royal family are some of the best of British tradition and civility. Her speech was perfect and the way she can calm a nation at 93 is remarkable

PeacockPies · 05/04/2020 22:20

I know, got a degree in geography (mostly useless) and everything.

who does she think she is, the queen of England? is a popular dismissive insult.

I'll start using who does she think she is, queen of 16 Commonwealth realms? as it's both more impactful and more current.
