Yes, I raised my eyebrows at 'met the criteria for testing' in the news report. That's clearly not true if his symptoms were mild. Obvious that someone like a royal would get tested ahead of ordinary folk mind, but no one in power wants to admit that!

Parker231 · 25/03/2020 10:57

I have contacted my MP as to why Prince Charles was tested and not frontline doctors and nurses who are putting their lives on the line each day.

SussexRoyalPenguin · 25/03/2020 11:02

What a worrying time for the whole family.

7Penguins · 25/03/2020 11:04

The 2nd in line and in a vulnerable group should be tested, it’s not right that front line NHS staff are not tested, but come on - begrudge the test Idris Elba took then - he had NO symptoms and is young and fit.

BelleharePenguin09 · 25/03/2020 11:12

Parker231

You are quite right. That frontline staff are not is unacceptable - when PC with his “mild symptoms” has been. It sends entirely the wrong message. Surprise.

meercat23 · 25/03/2020 11:33

I don't think they had any choice but to test him. If anything were to happen to him or the Queen the uproar on top of everything else that is going on would put even more pressure on government, police etc

meercat23 · 25/03/2020 11:34

Should have said though that I absolutely agree that all frontline staff should have testing freely available as needed

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 25/03/2020 11:35

How nasty Parker

I bet his symptoms aren’t that mild for him to be tested. I’ve read between the lines. I think he’s not that mild but not bad enough to be in hospital. Heir to the throne - of course he should be tested.

Parker231 · 25/03/2020 11:40

It’s not in any way nasty. The reports are that he has mild symptoms and is at home.

My DH is working in A&E with no protective equipment and has not been tested. There is a high possibility he will get the virus from patients whose lives he is trying to save.

How has the higher priority to a test?? Why is his life more important than my DH and other frontline healthcare staff?

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 25/03/2020 11:41

Parker Prince Charles has been tested because he is sick. He also is over 70 years old and has underlying conditions (arthritis). It is disgraceful that our NHS staff are not being tested and having to work without adequate PPE equipment but do you begrudge every single person who has had the test?

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 25/03/2020 11:42

He has been tested in Scotland which has different criteria.

Parker231 · 25/03/2020 11:44

Why haven’t other over 70’s displaying symptoms not been tested?

He has been tested because he is a member of the RF and not because of his health status - so wrong.

7Penguins · 25/03/2020 11:55

I guarantee you every rich/influential person and their families get private tests as soon as one sneezes.
PC should absolutely be tested.

Parker231 · 25/03/2020 11:57

Why should PC be tested?

SenecaFallsRedux · 25/03/2020 12:00

According to news reports, he wasn't tested privately; he was tested by NHS Scotland. The NHS is devolved so Scotland has its own criteria, which it appears he met.

7Penguins · 25/03/2020 12:03

Why should PC be tested?

🤦🏻‍♀️

SussexRoyalPenguin · 25/03/2020 12:05

As a PP said on a different thread, why should Prince Charles be treated like Royalty?

7Penguins · 25/03/2020 12:06

Sussex lol Grin

Lunde · 25/03/2020 12:19

According to the announcement PC met the criteria for testing in the Aberdeen region of Scotland.

I would also take with a huge pinch of salt the statement of "mild symptoms" - the RF always underplay illness. Anyone remember TQ disappearing for a couple of months for a "cold" a few years ago. Any it was never revealed why the DoE had hospital treatment before Christmas.

I would also guess that PC can get hospital type treatment such as oxygen and possibly CPAP at home. Remember that in the past surgeries were performed in Royal residences.

Parker231 · 25/03/2020 12:22

Information from NHS Scotland

Testing for COVID-19

Generally, you'll only be tested for COVID-19 if you have a serious illness that requires admission to hospital.

Lunde · 25/03/2020 12:23

I feel sorry for PW at the moment - he has all the worry of an elderly parent with coronavirus, extremely vulnerable elderly grandparents and has been catapulted into being defacto monarch at the moment ... while his selfish younger brother has run away to Hollywood!

7Penguins · 25/03/2020 12:33

Not even Hollywood, Lunde Grin

lyralalala · 25/03/2020 12:36

He met the criteria in Scotland and therefore should have been tested (the three people I know who’ve been tested have been tested at hospital and sent home, they have needed to need in hospital treatment to be tested)

He should be face scorn to the same levels as Kirsty allsopp and other second home owners for the fact he travelled to Scotland in the first place

lyralalala · 25/03/2020 12:39

He was in contact with Albert of Monaco so as soon as Albert tested positive it’s likely Charles was tested

MissEliza · 25/03/2020 13:11

Parker231 you're being ridiculous.
